Building and Facility Repair Technician

This is a 12-month contract.

What will you do?
Performs general maintenance and repair work in the facility and site grounds.

Provides support services to the office and operating areas with an emphasis on improving fit and finish for appearance, safety and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) compliance.

Performs tasks and duties intended to maintain the good condition and appearance of the facility and the site grounds to ensure the facility and operating modules are always inspection ready.


Responsibilities:


  • Facility Appearance and Repair
  • Repairs and repaints damaged walls, doors, windows, floors and ceilings in office areas, GMP hallways, operating modules and packaging areas, warehouse, QA (Quality Assurance)/QC (Quality Control) lab areas, cafeteria and washrooms
  • Repairs cracks on the floors and replaces damaged and missing ceiling tiles in the office areas and operating areas.
  • Repairs, or in extreme cases, coordinates the repair of washrooms facilities.
  • Set up offices for new employees in the office areas and set up shelves required in the Documents & Parts storage areas.
  • Coordinates with the Facility Cleaners, when required any special cleanup preparation for audits by regulatory bodies and Clients.
  • Facility Maintenance
  • Assists with the weekly Pest Control inspection and followup corrective actions.
  • Performs the monthly inspection of the facility's fire extinguishers and grease traps
  • Investigates cause(s) of water leaks and contain, and arrange to repair roof leaks to prevent impacting on production.
  • When necessary, arranges with inhouse or contract resources the repair of doors.
  • Organizes and secures office furniture and other necessary facilityrelated equipment so these are readily available when required.
  • Provides uniforms to new plant employees.
  • Assists in preparing the facility for special events, town halls, audits, meetings and customer visits.
  • Tracks and monitors the movement of building external maintenance Contractors inside the facility during construction work.
  • Performs alternating or rotating shift work as well as required to work during maintenance shutdowns.

Requirements:


Education

  • A high school diploma/General Educational Development (GED) Certificate is required

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of previous building maintenance experience in a controlled and regulated environment.
  • Experience with the use of special paints/coating systems such as epoxy resins for touchups of walls, equipment etc.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Skills in general repair work walls, floors, doors, ceiling, drains, plumbing, equipment & facility painting, and yard maintenance.
  • Knowledge and skills in using small hand tools.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Works well in a Team environment.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Proficiency with the English language.
