Global Furniture Group is looking for a
Health and Safety Coordinator to join our Global Contract division. This role will support our manufacturing and office facilities and is based 100% on-site at our North York location.


POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

This position will ensure that all policies and procedures are in conformance to the company's health & safety management system as well as compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.


SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Monitoring the OH&S management system according to ISO 4500
  • Support the maintenance of the OH&S management system in conjunction with the EHS Supervisor
  • Initiate, investigate and follow up on H&S corrective actions
  • Participation in Continual Improvement meetings
  • Maintenance of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) within all applicable plant / office areas
  • Participate in hazard identification and risk assessments
  • Participate in Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings
  • Participate in identification of environmental aspects and impacts
  • Identifying, handling and investigating and documenting existing or potential accidents / incidents
  • Participate in workplace inspections and maintenance of inspected items (eye wash stations, spill kits, sprinkler water pressure etc.)
  • Inspection and maintenance of first aid room and supplies
  • Participate in testing emergency preparedness and response plans
  • Participate in training employees regarding health & safety
  • Scheduling external training needed for employees (first aid etc.)
  • Maintain a logbook of all employees not following health & safety policies and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • 1 year of health and safety coordination experience
  • High School diploma and/or equivalent experience
  • CHSP designation an asset
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Good planning, time management and organizational skills
  • First Aid/CPR certified an asset
  • Certified Joint Health & Safety Committee member through WSIB an asset
