OVERVIEW:

As part of the Process Supervision team, the
Supervisor Raw Sugar Dock oversees the raw sugar dock and shed operations and is responsible for the execution, planning and scheduling of all work required to receive bulk raw sugar at the Toronto Refinery from vessels and trucks.

Responsible for the effective management of employees, contractors and support services on the dock and co-ordination between the process, raw sugar and maintenance departments to ensure that all operations are completed in a safe and efficient manner.

This person is also resposinsible for the Bulk and Liquid loading areas.

RESPONSIBILITY AND JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Accountable for the health and safety of workers under their direct supervision. Responsible to ensure that equipment and procedures are safe and that employees work in compliance with all relevant regulations and Company policies for safe work practices and procedures, environmental systems, security, and quality requirements
Acts as the principal contact and liaison between the department and other Redpath functions; ship agents and trucking companies; and with other parties involved in the scheduling of raw sugar deliveries to the plant.
Works in conjunction with the raw sugar group to organize delivery schedules and activities; schedule contract labor and activities; and manage Redpath labor and equipment needs.
Ensures that all operations are efficient and manages costs and budget requirements for the operation.
Plans and oversees maintenance and repair activities; cleaning requirements; upgrades to systems, procedures, employee training, and development.
Maintains, evaluates and reports productivity information for the operation; directs and participates in improvement projects and initiatives; and participates with the process team on general refinery improvement initiatives.
Manages raw sugar inventory for accounting, yield requirements, organizes inventory activities, and updates when required.
Working knowledge of large scale bulk handling systems; heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes and dozers; and mobile equipment such as forklifts, bobcat loaders etc.
Ability to work independently and achieve results in in an organized labor environment.
Excellent communications skills and strong abilities to manage multiple priorities and issues effectively.
Strong leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills with good interest in personal development and growth.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum 5 years supervisory experience in bulk material handling operations in food or chemical manufacturing
Knowledge of bulk ship unloading operations is preferred
Demonstrated experience supervising large industrial processes and operations
Training in Occupational health and Safety for supervision

EDUCATION:

Diploma or degree in technology, engineering or related science
Professional development training in safety, leadership and continuous improvement
