Position Summary:


Reporting to the Director of the Teaching & Learning Centre (T&L C) and working as a member of the team, the incumbent will act as a resource for staff, faculty, and administration by developing multimedia assets and online resources and will assist them in the use of technology in support of teaching and learning at Seneca.


Responsibilities:


Course Learning Asset Creation

  • Design and plan original graphical imagery and multimedia.
  • Create learning objects, course materials, interactive web pages, graphical user interfaces, animations, and original video productions.
  • Source external multimedia files, images, effects and video elements for enhancement of learning assets.
  • Ensure copyright compliance and retention of licenses during the creation of new and remixed learning objects.
  • Working with an interdisciplinary educational development team in the development of curriculum blueprints, interactive activities, storyboards, and script.

Maintenance of Developed Assets

  • Ensure measures are taken to save, share and protect all files used to create learning objects (i.e., raw and sources files, completed packages).
  • Manage the collection and storage of source files and finished projects.
  • Update assets for content changes and for technology updates to ensure proper functioning.
  • Test and resolve learning objects use within different platforms.

Consulting and Learning Management System Support

  • Advise and consult with faculty on the integration of multimedia assets and the use of digital materials/webbased resources.
  • Develop and facilitate training (workshops, seminars, discussions, onetoone appointments etc.).
  • Set up technical course components such as assessments, discussions, gradebooks, integration of external tools and built objects.
  • Implement interactive learning objects in order to integrate with various platforms.
  • Customize interactive content within the HTML editor within the LMS.
  • Anticipate and research emerging educational trends for purchase and professional development decisions for consideration by appropriate administrative bodies and distributing this learning via a systemic formalized approach.

Other

  • Develop Teaching and Learning Centre specific branding and communications for distribution.
  • Oversee and maintain Teaching and Learning Centre social media presence.
  • Assist with updating the Seneca Teaching & Learning web space.
  • Other duties and meetings as assigned.

Qualifications:


Education

  • Minimum three (3) years diploma/degree in Multimedia, web development or a related field.

Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience with specialized technical training and solid background in video production, advanced Web development, graphic design, and illustration.
  • Experience maintaining previously created multimedia assets, accessibility standards, and practices in the support of institutional objectives and strategies.

Skills

  • Experience and creativity in multimedia layouts and design, knowledge of colour and design theory, and graphic design techniques.
  • Proven computer skills and knowledge of PC and Macintosh platforms, office programs, FTP, graphic design, and databases. Familiarity with mobile devices.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Learning Management Systems, Camtasia, Articulate Storyline.
  • Advanced knowledge of video and audio creation / editing.

A skills assessment test will be administered during the recruitment process.


A combination of relevant experience and education may be considered as equivalent to the above requirements in the event that there are no internal applicants that meet the qualifications as posted.

Equivalency will be assessed by the talent acquisition team.
