Overview

Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Manager is responsible for various accounting reconciliations for our institutional portfolio's.

The Accounting Manager manages the month end close for various GL accounts and is responsible for review of the property manager (PM) cash calls.

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for review of junior accountant's journal entries and account reconciliations.

Responsibilities:

Review of the property managers (PM) reporting, including PM's bank reconciliations, and account reconciliations
Responsible for communications with the PMs, to ensure they are reporting on time and accurately
Books month and year end journal entries
Review the work of the junior accountants
Responsible for the compilation and first review of the monthly cash calls from the PMs
Responsible for reviewing wires to pay the monthly cash calls, and setting up other wires, as necessary
Responsible for cash transfers between the PM accounts, as required
Analyze the profit and loss statements for their assigned portfolio's
Liaise with Asset Management to complete the month end process and ensure finance has complete and accurate information
Review and reconcile monthly property management fees calculation
Responsible for the accurate and timely completion of assigned account reconciliations
Responsible for certain assigned covenant reporting to lenders
Review of the actual to budgets for various items in the income statement and provide details as to the reasons for variances
Preparation of the year end working papers for the auditors, and responsible for assisting the auditors during both interim and year end visits
Responsible for HST returns
Perform special projects to assist the Executive Director of Finance, as required

Requirements:

Finance and Accounting Degree

years accounting and finance experience

CPA, CMA or CPA,CGA
Accounting software, YARDI an asset
Excel (V‐look up and pivot tables); high level proficiency required
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Excellent communication skills, assertive, able to initiate and implement new methods
Strong followup skills and able to deal with tact, diplomacy and confidentiality
Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask and prioritize
Works well independently and in a team environment
Taskoriented and will do what is needed to get job done (able to work overtime as required).
