- Promote safety culture through engagement with employees, JHSC, subcontractors and suppliers, implementation and maintenance of local and regional initiatives with an objective of "zero" safety incidents.
- Promotes safety policies, processes and review procedures to ensure that site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines.
- Ensure that the plant and surrounding site is kept safe, presentable, and functional. Understanding Near Miss and HI process, MVA's, FA's, MI's, LTI's, Daily Safety Huddles, Risk Assessments, Confined Space and WAH permits
- Operate heavy equipment including excavator (with hammer attachment and bucket) and wheel loader for long periods of the shift to process material for the crusher and feed the crusher.
- Complete and assign cleanup assignments using a skid steer and/or hand-held tools; working safely around moving and/or rotating equipment while using the required personal protective safety equipment.
- Perform pre-operational checks and operate assigned mobile equipment as trained and directed.
- Ensure that site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines.
- Be aware of environmentally sensitive areas and be alert to correct environmental problems that may develop in the assigned work area.
- Work in a team environment with other co-workers, supervisors and managers.
- Perform and assign daily inspections as part of our preventative maintenance program.
- Assist in repairing broken or malfunctioning equipment.
- Assist with plant repairs as needed.
- Work at heights when required.
- Perform other duties as assigned to assist in the efficient operation of the plant and site.
- Follow instructions, work within a team setting, respond to Supervisor's direction and communicate it with your team.
- Help to ensure crushing campaigns are completed safely within the forecasted times.
- Help organize and execute moving the crushing plant to new locations when crushing campaigns are complete.
- Have a personal vehicle or other reliable transportation to be able to get yourself to site on time.
- Experience in construction, mining or operating heavy machinery is preferred but not required.
- Basic welding and fitting is preferred but not required.
- Ontario high school diploma (OSSD) or equivalent is preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Be willing to work rotating shifts, overtime and weekends when required.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Dependability – follow instructions and respond to supervisor direction.
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation
- Working outdoors and varied temperatures and weather conditions.
- Working indoors in varied conditions (ie. hot, noisy, dusty).
- Working rotating shifts, overtime and weekends when required.
- Effortless mobility through all areas of the plant.
- Working at heights.

The Mill Helper (Labourer) at the Lafarge– London Aggregate site performs a combination of tasks ranging from housekeeping activities, preventative maintenance, operation of fixed and mobile equipment used in the production of aggregates, as well as routine maintenance and repairs as directed.
Competitive wages with a good benefit and pension plan after 3 months. Wage increases after a 90-day probation period and a successful posting to the job. There is a $1.00/hr premium paid for the afternoon shift.
