What the job is all about:

  • Evaluation of designs and compliance testing of all products to conform with applicable Electromagnetic (EMC) requirements along with electrical safety, mechanical safety requirements.
  • Perform internal EMC evaluation of products, such as radiated emission, ESD, etc. before NRTL certification.
  • Maintain compliance lab, EMC, and electrical safety equipment.
  • Coordinates with Project Managers and NRTL agencies such as CSA, TUV and NEMKO during the certification process.
  • Work closely with Product Design teams, Order Management, Sales Teams, and other Product teams supporting product design and sales in the area product certification.
  • Review Engineering Change Requisitions (ECRs) and approve for compliance.
  • Conduct product safety design reviews, make design recommendations, and perform compliance testing of products, for creepage/clearances, insulation material, flammability, up to 100 VDC systems before NRTL (National Recognized Testing Laboratory) certification.
  • Work closely with Product Design teams, Order Management, Sales Teams, and other Product teams supporting product design and sales in the area product certification.
  • Staying informed with international compliance and regulatory requirements (updating to existing standards and identifying new standards and requirements)
  • Maintaining compliance documentation and declarations.
  • Maintaining detailed work schedule of compliance responsibilities.
  • Support NRTLs factory audits.
  • Provide suggestions/plans for ongoing improvements in the R&D and compliance process.
  • Follow company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Who you are:


  • Working knowledge of product global and international EMC standards is required: CISPR 32 / EN 55032, CISPR 35 / EN55035, CISPR 24 / EN 55024, FCC Part 15, ICES00
  • Asset working knowledge of Electrical safety standards such as IEC/UL/EN , IEC/EN and IEC/EN
  • Asset working knowledge of Mechanical Directives
  • Asset working knowledge of various country approvals, regulatory marks and homologation processes is preferred.
  • Asset knowledge of environmental standards such as RoHS, WEEE, REACH, etc.
  • Good understanding of laboratory test equipment such as Hi-Pot testers, Spectrum Analyzers, ESD gun, antennas, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal, and observational skills.
  • Organized and very detail orientated.
  • Selfstarter, quick learner, and able to work with minimum supervision in meeting schedules, project deliverables, and deadlines.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills orally, verbally, and in writing
  • Minimum 35 years' experience working with EMC with knowledge of safety standards
  • Valid Driver's License and access to a vehicle for occasional travel to Iroquois and NRTL locations.
