Location
1/33 Commerce Valley Dr. East, Markham, Ontario

  • This is an onsite role as the hiring team will require the student to work in the Markham office throughout the entire duration of the coop work term. COVID19 protocols are being strictly followed. _

Program Term

About the Department


The Diagnostics team is responsible for developing test suites that exercise and validate the hardware blocks in the graphics chips developed at AMD.

We are heavily involved in diagnostics development for the latest innovations in next generation products that power the ultimate visual and computing experience.

We understand the features that go into the hardware design and we have the software skills to program them.

Once developed these diagnostics are used in all aspects of the product lifecycle, from pre-silicon validation through the production life of the product.


The Role


Your work will play an important role in diagnostic releases for current and future products, for internal and external customer releases.


What you'll be doing

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • The verification of diagnostics tests that are used in ASIC Qualification and production test suites for both internal and external customers.
  • Identifying and troubleshooting hardware and software problems.
  • Working with Program Managers and IP Owners to gather requirements and resolve issues.
  • Support and resolve customer issues, including investigation and debugging of diagnostics suites.
  • Ensuring the quality and traceability of diagnostics suite releases.
  • Assist in ASIC bringup and support activities.
  • Development and debug of automation tools/scripts to assist with the above.

Requirements:

This position requires knowledge and skills in both software and hardware engineering:

  • Good knowledge and experience in software programming (C, C++, Perl, Python, other).
  • Familiarity with PC architecture and components.
  • Experience with software development and debugging in Linux environment.
  • Source control systems (Git, SVN, Perforce, etc).
  • Proactivity and excellent communication skills.
