$4,149.76 to $5,269.59 bi-weekly ($108,308 - $137,536/year)
Role Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Executive Director of the Learning Facilities Branch, the Director, Planning and Site Readiness, provides leadership, strategic direction and decision making for various functions relating to development of the school facilities capital program and ongoing communications within the region in accordance with Government's and department's capital program funding legislation, policies, guidelines, and priorities.
The Director provides leadership and coordination of communication and liaison activities with the Ministry of Education, the School Divisions, and other stakeholders related to the review of school capital plan submissions, ongoing monitoring of grant-funded capital projects.
This role supports the Executive Director and other senior department officials in achieving the mandate, goals, and operations of the Learning Facilities Branch, the Capital Projects Division and the ministry.
The primary responsibilities of the Director, Planning & Readiness include (but are not limited to):- Reviewing capital plan submissions from Education and leading the internal ministry technical and costing review of projects identified and analyzing proposed facility solutions
- Evaluating medium and longterm plans and identifying the impact on the overall capital program
- Providing briefing materials to support program communications
- Leading functional program development for approved projects and working with Project Services on procurement processes for programming consultants
- Monitoring the implementation of grant funded projects to ensure implementation as per the approval and in compliance with School Capital Planning Manual
- Leading and supporting staff working with clients and stakeholders, involving staff in capital planning processes, and communicating relevant goals, priorities, and processes
Qualifications:
-
University degree in Engineering, Architecture, Business or a related field
plus 4 years related experience;
or:
Technical diploma in planning, design, construction management or a related field
plus 6 years of experience.
Equivalency:
Directly related education or experience considered based on:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
Required:
- Knowledge of design, construction, architecture, engineering, and facility evaluation theories and principles
- Knowledge of Project planning, coordination and management techniques and principles
- Experience in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, project management in schools
- Considerable experience in progressively senior management roles in the administration and coordination of capital programs for school facilities
Assets:
- Business administration and/or management skills certificate, diploma or training desirable
- Trade certification and experience
