Purpose of Role


Reporting to the Manager, Global Security Governance, this position is responsible for all duties associated with travel security, OSINT, business intelligence and country risk requirements, and security management systems.

Advise on international security and geopolitical developments, which have potential to impact the business using specialized knowledge, gained from Masters level education and professional work.

The position also provides necessary levels of support regarding the Global Security Standardization program to include metrics gathering and program development specialized security and business knowledge.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
Analyze and monitor global events and activities using specialist knowledge to determine with good judgement impacts on Kinross operations with a strong analytical acumen
Develop, and disseminate security risk reports for locations where Kinross operates.
Develop and disseminate political/economic/security risk reports on possible future countries of operation and exploration.
Daily monitoring of high risk countries for security risk and, if necessary, circulate a special advisories.
Conduct Threat Risk Assessments as required
Assist with the Kinross travel security program.
Develop and implement an open source intelligence capacity, including daily monitoring
Handle search queries from other stakeholders in the business
Use of Kinross specific social media searching technology
Use of Kinross specific incident and investigations database platform
Assist in the development of new tools for security analysis and reporting
Provide due diligence of companies and individuals using specific software and more traditional methods to flag potential high impact risk, such as sanctions or criminal
Support Kinross' unique Global Standardization Program through the collection of data and metrics from regional and site security management.
Serve on the GSSP audit team; conduct audits of Kinross locations to ensure program compliance.
Develop educational material for employees in the area of security risk
Develop new tools to support site and global security management achieve their goals
Assist with investigations as needed.
Support other Global Security functions such as access control, development of security policies and procedures.
Sustainability Expectations


Follows and implements programs contained in the Global Security Standardization Program to include the performance based strategy; this involves developing/optimizing the site security system, also conducting briefings to site personnel keeping them updated about security related matters.


Actively promote human rights and security best practices to all stakeholders internally and externally as the Kinross Human Rights Adherence and Verification Program.

Elements and metrics of this human rights and security program will be diligently detailed and reported to GS as part of the Kinross annual ESG reporting requirements.

Minimum Qualifications & Skill Requirements
Masters University degree post secondary training of at least 2 years in a related field
3-5 years of related work experience in an administrative role, with experience providing risk reports and country intelligence briefings.
Extensive research experience and possess ability to analyze potential impact on operations
Strong geopolitical analysis abilities with proven track record of advising a business on international issues
Exercise good initiative ability to make linkages
Ability to work under minimum supervision
High level of integrity
Knowledge of OSINT approach and methodologies essential
