Reporting to the Manager, Asset Planning and System Engineering, the incumbent manages Elexicon Energy's short-, medium-, and long-term distribution capital and maintenance plan, focusing on customer impact, system supply adequacy, system security, reliability, safety, cost, and industry trends.

The Supervisor is also responsible for maintenance management for all the distribution assets.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review and approve power system load flow studies on CYME software to perform short circuit, and protection coordination studies. Accordingly, approve a plan for system expansions and enhancements to reflect main feeder, substation, and supply point adequacy.
  • Responsible for ensuring the distribution system plant has adequate capacities to connect new load in a safe, and reliable manner.
  • Maintain strong relationships and represent Elexicon during technical planning meetings with Hydro One, IESO, OEB, and regional municipalities.
  • Provide support in developing a 5year Distribution System Plan (DSP) and associated regulatory submissions such as ICM, interrogatory responses, etc.
  • Participate in developing and maintaining Asset Management Policy and Strategic Asset Management Plan.
  • Responsible for preparing annual Asset Condition Assessment (ACA) reports and developing an Asset Replacement Plan (ARP).
  • Review capital project and maintenance scopes/ business cases to support short, medium, and longterm decisionmaking.
  • Review and approve maintenance instructions and plans for Elexicon's distribution plant assets.
  • Review and approve solutions affecting the electric distribution system to properly serve new loads.
  • Assist with preparing and reviewing the annual Investment Plan, including scope documents and business cases for system access, system renewal, and system service portfolio of assets.
  • Use multiple tools and data sources to provide analytical support to the Manager, Asset Planning, and System Engineering, as required.
  • Provide and support the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with CSA, ESA, and Ontario electrical distribution safety regulation 22/0
  • Actively participates in fostering creativity and innovation and looks for new ideas to improve the operation of the unit.
  • Provide a clear understanding to workers regarding their performance and communicate regularly.
  • Supports Manager by using sound critical thinking and has demonstrated experience building and executing strategies.
KEY SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in a supervisory role is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of power system concepts along with practical experience on distribution and stationrelated assets
  • Experience with distribution network reliability standards and reporting requirements
  • Experience in preparing technical reports, regulatory evidence, and presentations as required by the Manager.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong problemsolving and decisionmaking skills
  • Welldeveloped project management skills
  • Strong stakeholder and change management skills
  • Experience with power system tools such as CYME, EMTP, etc.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Postsecondary degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Ontario
  • Three (3) to seven (7) years of experience in a utility preferred; direct experience in distribution system planning, and asset management
  • Knowledge of Ontario Regulation 22/0
  • Understanding of regulatory submissions such as Distribution System Plan (DSP) and Interrogatory responses
  • Knowledge of utility planning, design, and operation.
  • Knowledge of industryaccepted standards and best practices for Asset Management, such as ISO55001 requirements
  • Experience with budgets and expenditures
  • Strong understanding of enterprise risk management (ERM)
