Land and Resource Specialist

$75, $96,020.36 annually


The Land and Resource Specialist can be involved in a variety of provincial policy initiatives related to land use and natural resource management, playing a key role in their implementation and monitoring.

The role offers an opportunity to advance reconciliation with Indigenous peoples, and can provide direction for forestry, energy development, water and ecosystem protection, recreation activities and other resource use decisions.


Qualifications for this role include:

  • Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a fully licensed professional with the British Columbia professional association as required by the specialty area (i.e. Forest Professionals BC, BC Institute of Agrologists, Engineers and Geoscientists BC).
  • A Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in a natural resource management field (e.g., forestry, geography, agrology, environmental science, geology, natural resource management) or an equivalent combination of education/training, with a minimum of three (3) years' experience working in a relevant natural resource management discipline.

Note:

preference may be given to those with recent (within the last 5 (five) years) experience dealing with complex and relevant natural resource issues.


  • Demonstrated recent (within the last 5 (five) years) and relevant experience managing technical and/or professional staff in natural resource management in a direct, matrix or project management environment.
  • Demonstrated recent (within the last 5 (five) years) experience in a multiple stakeholder and partner environment, understanding perspectives, conflicts and facilitating and /or developing solutions.
  • Demonstrated recent (within the last 5 (five) years) experience related to First Nations consultation, collaboration and relationship building.
  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver's Licence or equivalent.
