Job Summary
The Payroll Clerk II is responsible for computing, verifying and maintaining payroll, leave and related records of employment within Eastern Health.
Work involves analyzing and processing cyclic payrolls in accordance with documents and directives received, policies and procedures and collective agreements; preparing remittances for deductions to various agencies; answering enquiries and providing advice on matters relating to pay; processing payroll memorandums involving a variety of personnel actions in accordance with established time schedules; maintaining leave and other records and performing other related duties as requiredJob Demands
Occasionally required to lift files and supplies weighing less than 10 lbs.
Occasional bending, stretching to retrieve and return files.
A high level of visual concentration and precision required to prepare calculations, input data, audit records and review while sitting and using a calculator, keyboard, and computer mouse.
Auditory concentration is required to listen to and respond to inquiries from staff and agencies.Job Qualifications
Completion of a recognized/approved two-year Business Administration program
- Completion of a recognized/approved two-year Business Administration program with a specialization in Accounting supplemented by completion of the Certified Payroll Compliance Practitioner Program
OR a three-year Business Management program specializing in Accounting with payroll courses completed is required.
Demonstrated strong organizational skills.
Ability to work both collaboratively and with a high degree of independence and initiative.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Demonstrated strong customer service skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (specifically Excel and Word).
An Excel score of 60% is required. A basic Excel test may be administered by the Department of Human Resources.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
If there are no fully qualified applicants, applicants with a two or three-year Business Administration/Management diploma, bachelor's degree in business, or other courses/education in payroll may be considered.
- Program must be recognized by Eastern Health Human Resources.
