    The expected pay range for this position is $96,000 - $110,000 per year.

    The Faculty of Forestry at the University of British Columbia-Vancouver campus invites applications for up to two full-time Lecturer positions to support teaching, coordination, and development of undergraduate courses in the degree program. The lecturers will coordinate, lead the instruction, and supervise students for some core courses in the program.

    The lecturers will be responsible to instruct the courses in two or more of the following areas: as Indigenous ways of knowing, ecology, law and governance, economics, communication, business management, research and data management methods, and community capacity building. The lecturers will also assist in the annual field courses.

    The lecturers will work with the Program Director of the Indigenous Land Stewardship program on the development, marketing and continual improvement of the program. The program's expected 25-40 student cohort per year comprises a diverse student group, mainly from Indigenous communities. The program aims to prepare professionals for work in Indigenous communities, for various levels of government and for other careers related to Indigenous land stewardship. Teaching will include classroom-based lectures, seminars, project and field work as well as the delivery of materials online to students taking the program remotely.

    Qualifications:

  • A graduate degree is not required to be eligible for a lecturer position, but teaching and practical experience is a major asset.
  • Experience in teaching and mentoring Indigenous learners
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team is necessary as well as ability to work on tight deadlines.
  • A demonstrated ability to establish productive partnerships with Indigenous communities is preferred

    The appointment will start on July 1, 2024, but is negotiable. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position is available for up to 3 years, with the possibility of renewal for subsequent years.
