Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Development


Reports To:
Director of Procurement Arrow Off-Road Division


Role Summary:


Reporting to the Director of Procurement of Arrow Off-Road,
Arrow Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Development will focus on strategic sourcing initiatives including identifying, developing, and qualifying suppliers globally to support business needs, vendor consolidation, cost reduction and supplier risk mitigation plans.

Due to the nature of the business, off hour calls might be required.

Individual must be capable of working out of each facility located in Guelph, Cambridge, Woodstock and Stratford and support suppliers globally.


Responsibilities:


  • Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Development leads in the identification, qualification, and development of potential suppliers in accordance with company needs as may be defined by Business Development, Engineering, Operations, Quality or Procurement in line with company values and processes.
  • Lead initiatives to consolidate vendors, reduce Arrow's material cost of sales including direct material cost, logistics cost, and packaging cost, along with making recommendations for improvements to reduce vendor lead times, identify bottlenecks, and improve quality of the product as may be required based on actual performance.
  • Lead and refine as necessary the supplier development process which will include a business assessment and paper audit (supplier survey, ISO certification, capabilities, pricing) of potential and current suppliers along with coordinating and participating in the global vendor audit program which includes quarterly formal onsite audits of key vendors using experienced personnel across the organization. The audits focus on vendor safety, quality, delivery, cost, capacity, and capabilities. Issues are identified and corrective actions are followed up on to ensure improvement and compliance with expectations and standards.
  • Establishes effective communication with suppliers, to ensure they understand Arrow's safety, quality, delivery, and cost expectations.
  • Follows and complies with all Operational Procedures and Policies as outlined in Quality and Environmental programs (ie.
ISO9001, ISO14001)

  • Works directly with suppliers in conjunction with other Arrow departments where Quality, Delivery or Cost performance, or business risk demands robust improvement plans or corrective action.
  • Identify potential risks in suppliers and broader global markets and develop, recommend, and implement plans to mitigate risks.
  • Assure supplier understanding of program launch, PPAP procedures and requirements as part of development and qualification process
  • Influence and track project and product timelines submitted by Suppliers and ensure timing of major milestones are in line with Arrow needs in capacity expansion, quality issue recovery plans, cost reduction efforts or risk mitigation actions.
  • Support initiatives related to outsourcing projects from internal operations to supplier partners including supplier selection, cost, delivery and quality expectations and project launch.
  • Functions as a liaison between suppliers and internal functions/plants (Engineering, Quality, Operations) to clarify requirements, facilitate communication and drive accountability related to improvement initiatives.
  • Gather, interpret relevant data, and create effective presentations related to key strategic sourcing initiatives and the supplier development process.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and / or Supply Chain SCMP designation preferred.
  • Process driven with strong analytical skills.
  • At least 8 years with primary responsibility for strategic sourcing projects and supplier selection, qualification, vendor quality and development globally.
  • Be able to understand and interpret 3D models and drawings.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office software.
  • Lean, Six Sigma and validation activities.
  • Must have experience in machining, casting, and fabrication commodities, techniques and processes.
