Where You Come In
We are looking for
a Development Officer to join our team at Make-A-Wish Canada.
This position is responsible for securing corporate donors, sponsors, and major gifts in the Quebec region by identifying, cultivating, and stewarding a specific group of donors.
Reporting to the Chapter Director, the Development Officer is directly accountable for securing revenue from corporate and foundation donors.
The Development Officer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing the corporate and foundation donor programs within their specific region on behalf of Make-A-Wish Canada (MAWC).
This role is located in
Montreal, Quebec and is a
full-time, permanent, hybrid (2 days in-office, 3 days remote) position.
What You Will Do
- In partnership with their immediate manager the Development Coordinator, develops strategies to increase revenue within the region which contributes to the overall fundraising goals of the organization.
- Works collaboratively with the Chapter Advisory Board or designated group to identify prospective donors from within and outside of MAWC's existing network.
- Manages individual prospects and donors in their assigned region, identifies new prospects, and works directly or through volunteers to initiate dialogue.
- Manages effective systems for tracking and cultivating donors and prospect donors through Salesforce, enabling MAWC to grow and/or maintain ongoing relationships with current and past donors.
- In collaboration with the broader development team, plans and executes recognition and stewardship plans for major gift and corporate donors.
- Participates in the planning and implementation of project related donor events and activities to engage and educate donors and prospects.
- Plans and implements donor recognition projects and events, liaising with staff regarding existing events to which donors will be invited.
- Acts as a representative for MAWC by conducting presentations at various meetings and events as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You Bring
- Postsecondary education in a related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Strong understanding of the charity sector and notforprofit organizations.
- 3+ years of experience of direct fundraising experience, preferably with proven success at cultivating, securing, and/or stewarding major gifts.
- Highly selfmotivated and directed.
- Experience in the direct ask role with proven results in successfully cultivating and soliciting donors and prospects.
- Strong knowledge of local and provincial donors and prospects; existing familiarity and relationships with these donors and prospects preferred.
- Knowledge of effective fundraising strategies and techniques for growing nonprofits;
