Hiring Unit:
Mining and Materials Engineering

Hours: 35 hours per week with a variable schedule depending on the work from both supervisors

Start date:
Monday February 20, 2023

End date:
Friday April 28, 2023

Hourly rate:
$35.52/hour

Position Summary:
Temporary Research Associate needed to work for 2 months with 2 supervisors as follows:

Assisting the Associate Director of McGill Materials Characterization (MMC) Facilities with laboratory work, technical support, and management
Supervising casting trials in the McGill Light Metals Research lab focusing mainly on maintaining safety during Al and Mg alloy making and casting experiments

Qualifications:
Ph.
D. in Materials Engineering or equivalent.

Experience in experimental work and knowledge in materials characterization

Other qualifying skills and abilities:

Familiarity with microscopies, mechanical testing, metallographic, heat treatment and machining equipmentExcellent use of Microsoft office programs. Experience with the operations of the McGill Materials Characterization Facilities will be an asset.
Three years minimum experience in alloying and casting of Al & Mg alloys in a university laboratory environment. Experience with the operations of the McGill Light Metals Research lab will be an asset.

Hourly Salary:
$35.52
