Manufacturing Maintenance and Repair Technician

This is a blend position involving both the maintenance of tools and equipment around the manufacturing facility and assisting with the introduction of new products into volume production by defining requirements, reviewing designs and driving technical solutions for problems encountered during the proto/pilot phase of the product.


Essential Job Functions:


  • Performing mechanical and electrical troubleshooting for manufacturing equipment
  • Reviewing existing machinery, equipment, tools and safety methods
  • Proactively detecting manufacturer and machine imperfections in order to access warranty
  • Completing regular and preventative maintenance of equipment
  • Performing emergency repairs on equipment where necessary
  • Ensuring proper safety protocols are in place to work on complex high voltage and low voltage electrical and mechanical issues
  • Ensuring safe operation of all equipment and machinery on the warehouse floor
  • Working with the internal OHS team to ensure the warehouse exceeds all audit standards and complies with all OHS rules including proper reporting
  • Act as link between Suppliers, Engineering and Manufacturing team when new products are released
  • Supporting the NPI team during new design reviews by representing manufacturing and suppliers
  • Diagnostic troubleshooting, rework/repair of nonconforming manufactured products and production equipment
  • Perform revision updates, rework or repair per approved disposition using a variety of tools and soldering equipment
  • Prepare and manage documentation of parts and products
  • Comply with policies, guidelines and regulatory requirements per the Quality System
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions
  • Report problems with quality, processes, equipment and materials to Production Supervisor
  • Assemble and test product and various electromechanical production equipment

Qualification Requirements:


  • Skilled in the use of hand and power tools
  • Ability to take apart machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts
  • Ability to check blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary
  • Ability to use common tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments or electronic testing devices
  • Experience performing routine maintenance
  • Strong organizational and follow up skills
  • Eye for detail
  • Forklift driving experience and Licence
  • Ability to maintain focus while working individually
  • Strong time management skills
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills
  • Electrical/electronics technical knowledge and experience 1 year
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and specs
  • Good balance of theoretical and practical experience and "hands on" in a manufacturing and production environment
  • Experience using test equipment
  • Soldering experience Able to work independently with limited supervision
  • Great time management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines

Physical Demands:

Provide hands on job function training to coworkers as needed. Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, reach within hands and arms length, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.

Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
