Location:
Comox Valley Seniors Village


Hours:
Tuesday-Saturday (8:00am-4:00pm) - including statutory holidays


SUMMARY OF POSITION:


Allocates and calls in relief staff according to pre-determined guidelines and performs related clerical functions as required to meet the goals and objectives of the organization within the mission, vision, values and strategic directions of the organization.

Performs duties following policies and procedures and ensures safety for residents/patients and staff. Participates in the continuous quality improvement of the service provided.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

Includes but not limited to;

  • Accepts calls from staff re: illness and absence from work, calls in relief staff to fill vacancies resulting from unfilled positions, vacations, leaves of absence and sick leaves; produce and distribute relief staff schedules to nursing units
  • Receive and process requests such as vacation, leaves of absence and terminations by preparing appropriate documentation, making necessary calculations such as seniority and vacation entitlements and forwarding to appropriate manager for approval.
  • Maintain timekeeping records for staff and submits to payroll; liaise with payroll re employee enquiries and make adjustments as required
  • Maintain records on relief staff such as names, addresses, phone numbers, availability for work, suitable work area and hours worked.
  • Promote staff health, safety, wellbeing and work life balance. Provide support to staff in the attainment of their goals.
  • Monitor safety in the working and living environment. Respond to and report all hazards, near misses and incidents; investigate and make recommendations as indicated.
  • Compliance with all Acts, Regulations, policies and protocols relevant to the position.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Grade 12 (or equivalent) plus three years' recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • All successful applicants must pass the vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check applicable to Provincial guidelines.
