Are you seeking a Team Lead role where you can work closely with the team and other internal partners to advance health equity in the health care system? Do you have expertise in policy analysis, strategy development and project management? Do you have strong skills to develop and present briefing materials to senior leaders?


If so, consider this opportunity with the Strategic Policy Unit of the Indigenous, French Language and Priority Populations Branch of the Ministry of Health, where you will provide leadership and innovative policy analysis and advice to support the Ontario healthcare system in developing approaches to support better health care experiences, access and outcomes for Black and other racialized populations, Indigenous communities, 2SLGBTQI+ communities and other population groups who face health disparities.


Strategic Policy, Planning & French Language Services Division

The division sets strategic directions for Ontario's health system and supports them with legislation and policy; monitors alignment with the strategic directions; selects and manages portfolios of initiatives within the ministry to further health system goals; and provides health research investments oversight.


Indigenous, French Language and Priority Populations Branch

The Branch provides systems thinking and evidence-based innovations to solve complex challenges in health care to enable equitable access to health care; translates evidence into policy and practice to help achieve health system change targets; proactively analyses emerging issues, research and trends to support policy development, evaluation and implementation of population specific action plans.

What can I expect to do in this role?: In this role, you will:

  • Provide project leadership and management on key files from concept to completion
  • Identify, develop and maintain constructive working relationships with key internal and external stakeholder groups
  • Develop presentations and briefing materials

How do I qualify?:


Leadership and Project Management Skills:


  • You have experience leading and managing the development of policy, programs and initiatives
  • You have experience providing leadership in policy and program development, delivery and implementation
  • You can champion project management approaches, coach staff and provide advice
  • You can effectively complete project deliverables from initial concept through completion

Issues Management:


  • You seek out and effectively analyze information to understand key business issues to identify potential solutions that could impact our business
  • You can facilitate resolution of contentious issues working collaboratively with stakeholders

Research, Evaluation and Analytical Skills:


  • You demonstrate sound judgment, sensitivity and a high degree of political acuity
  • You can assess the effectiveness of policies/programs against Ministry initiatives and goals
  • You support change by seeking out new ideas, developing innovations, conducting risk assessments and creating strategic solutions

Relationship Management and Communication:


  • You have expertise in creating and managing complex stakeholder relationships
  • You can work collaboratively to resolve issues, negotiate changes and shifts in priorities
  • You can lead consultations with stakeholders ensuring a shared understanding
  • You can respond to issues, provide recommendations and prepare reports
  • You can create, lead and present briefings on complex issues analysis to senior management

Health Care Knowledge:


  • You understand the sensitivities, needs, structures and relationships of the health care system, other stakeholder groups and affected populations in both Canadian and international contexts.
  • You are aware of health care system trends, and understanding of critical issues and concerns faced by health stakeholders to ensure policies, programs, regulations and legislation respond to issues within the health system
