**The Job Summary: The Manager, Complex Continuing Care will ensure high quality inpatient services and programs are provided to our patients. Your mandate will include maximizing patient outcomes, cultivating a work environment that will engage and develop the nursing staff as well as lead to staff satisfaction and managing the departments budgets in a way that strengthen our organization's financial stability.

**Key Accountabilities & Success Criteria: - The operation of the Complex Continuing Care program, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and standards.

  • The effective utilization and management of human, financial, and material resources.
  • Planning, implementing, and evaluating of patient care in Complex Continuing Care based on the changes in the health care system and requirements of the patients.
  • Quality of patient care through daytoday planning and coordination of human and material resources and using clinical knowledge and leadership skills to promote the delivery of quality patient care.
  • Participating in the performance management of direct reports.
  • Promoting and ensuring that the occupational health and safety program is followed.
  • Promoting patient and familycentered care consistent with the advances in the health and social sciences environment.
  • Promotes and facilitates effective professional practice
  • Establishing, implementing and evaluating standards for nursing care.
  • Managing patient and family issues and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Encouraging innovative approaches to nursing practice that contributes to the advancement of nursing knowledge.
  • Establish and maintain a patient safety program applicable for Complex Continuing Care that complies with the Patient Safety Guidelines
  • Participating in the development and monitoring of the annual operating and capital budgets for the ongoing functioning of Complex Continuing Care
  • Monitor expenses in order to stay within allocated budget for operating expenses.
  • Participating as a member of the middle management team and in the oncall roster.
  • Maintaining effective communication and liaison with other facilities and organizations, physicians, consultants etc. with respect to services for individual patients and the operation of the departments.
  • Participating in the process of labour relations.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • Must be a member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience preferably in Complex Continuing Care Management experience preferred

Skills & Abilities:


  • Demonstrated skill and expertise in human resources management; program planning, implementation and evaluation; financial management; computer literacy.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Superior organizational and time management skills;
  • And the ability to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Attend seminars/inservices for upgrading skills at the direction of the Senior Director, Clinical Services.
