POSITION OVERVIEW
The Associate - Fire Safety provides consulting services for private and public sector projects.

Under the supervision of senior staff, the Associate - Fire Safety will work on a variety of tasks related to Fire and Life Safety, and Emergency Management Services.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Fire Safety Plan, Alternative Measures Plan, and Emergency Plan preparation
  • Attend evacuation drills and produce reports
  • Conduct Fire Code compliance reviews and audits
  • Travel to client sites
  • Design, coordinate, and facilitate fire safety training, drills, and exercises
  • Conduct risk assessments and audits
  • Prepare and conduct Fire Warden training
  • Peer review and mentorship
  • Project management responsibilities
  • Attend client meetings and meetings with Authorities Having Jurisdiction
  • Proposal preparation
  • Assist Finance with project billing

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in a role preparing fire safety plans and delivering fire safety consulting services
  • University/College degree or diploma related to Fire Protection or Fire Safety
  • Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS), C.Tech., CET, or similar designation is an asset
  • Knowledge of fire protection and life safety including familiarity with building/fire/life safety codes, standards and best practices
  • Technically oriented; good analytical and organizational skills; attention to detail; able to complete tasks and projects in established timelines
  • Selfstarter that exhibits a high level of initiative and resourcefulness
  • An individual with high standards who holds themselves accountable
  • Confident and able to speak to large groups and train others
  • Versatile and able to manage varying workloads
  • A real team player
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with project team members and Clients
  • Able to obtain government security clearance
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Bilingual in French and English is an asset
