The Inflight Crew Team Lead is expected to work a 40-hour work week, have the flexibility to respond after hours as required, with heavier workload during peak periods and irregular operations i.e., holidays, cancellations, and delays.


This role will provide support over personnel questions for assigned Flight Attendants and operates on the ground at Swoop's Edmonton base.

The Inflight Crew Team Lead provides guidance and direction to ensure our crews can operate safely and smoothly while proactively reporting recurring personnel and operational issues to the Leader, Base Operations.

The Inflight Crew Team Lead helps to facilitate an environment that allows our Swoop Flight Attendants to achieve extraordinary results and create a remarkable experience for internal and external travellers.

This is a 6-month temporary position and does not qualify for Swoop's Flexible Benefit Plan or the WestJet Savings Plan.

Major Duties

  • Supervision/Leadership_
  • Provide administrative support to Flight Attendant performance and personnel issues;
  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of Swoop Flight Attendants on the ground;
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with Flight Attendants through open dialogue and approachability during gate support duties, crew room visits and electronic communications;
  • Communicate cabin safety, standards, and service to Flight Attendants to ensure the safety of our crew members and travellers;
  • Model, guide and motivate Flight Attendants to achieve priorities.
  • Operational Activities_
  • Promote an environment for achieving operational goals and high employee engagement through modelling Swoop values with our Flight Attendants, and the promotion of positive employee relations;
  • Review and action operational reports (i.e., IHR, IBR, Delay Reports);
  • Work collaboratively with the Inflight Crew Team Lead-East to maintain operational consistency throughout both bases;
  • Involvement in the Swoop safety plan including emergency response, audits, employee injuries and illness;
  • Providing input and insight on process changes and/or innovations you feel will improve our team, the operation, or profitability;
  • Conducting Inflight line assessments;
  • Must be (or willing to become) a qualified Swoop Flight Attendant and maintain competency;
  • Conducts Inspections-Aircraft & Crew Room;
  • Operate as a 737 Flight Attendant when required.
  • Stakeholder Engagement_
  • Working collaboratively with internal stakeholders including Flight Operations, Crew Planning and Crew Scheduling as well as external agencies (i.e., CATSA, Pass Control, Airport Authority);
  • Proactively identify and communicate the key issues within Flight Attendants to the Leader, Base Operations;
  • Building relationships through open and honest communication, focusing on the development of Flight Attendants through coaching and mentorship.

Qualifications:


  • 2+ years of experience in performance management including successful coaching and employee development;
  • Proven knowledge of Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARS) Parts 1, V, VI, VII;
  • Previous experience as a Flight Attendant an asset;
  • Proven track record of developing effective teams;
  • Ability to multitask & handle changing priorities;
  • Proven organization and time management skills;
  • Positive team player and able to adapt to a fast paced and everchanging environment;
  • Superior organizational skills allow you to work effectively in a dynamic environment;
  • Selfstarter with the ability to work independently and with mínimal supervision;
  • Resilient with high emotional intelligence;
  • Excellent oral and written skills are required;
  • Other special projects as required by Management.

Other Details:

  • Outoftown travel may be required.
