Project Manager:


shARed spaces 2.0- Public Augmented Art Response Team (PAART), under the guidance of and collaboration with the University of Saskatchewan Art Galleries and faculty/students from the Departments of Art & Art History and Computer Science.


After three years of existing research, consultation, and development, the Public Augmented Art Response Team (PAART) will leverage the newly developed shARed spaces augmented reality app (
Shared Spaces | ) to continue reciprocal relations with communities across the educational, governmental, band council, not-for-profit, artist-run, and public outreach/service sectors to respond to disenfranchisement, accessibility, the digital divide, greening, and collaboration/resource sharing needs.

Bringing an exciting new creation tool to organizations and expanding modes of sharing will build a more creative, inclusive, and visible community voice in the arts in Saskatchewan.


Primary Purpose:
To lead a research, development, and community outreach project.


Nature of Work:

The project manager will report to Lisa Birke, Assistant Professor Digital and Extended Media, and jake moore, Director of University Art Galleries and Collections, Assistant Professor, Art History, both located in the Department of Art and Art History.

You will also have access to the original Design Team to guide and confirm your decisions and directions though you are expected and encouraged to take the lead in this position as one that requires exceptional capacity for relationship building and maintenance.

The work will require some travel, and as it is related to community engagement will not always take place in a 9-5 environment.

Flexibility is required here, but as the manager of the project, you can ensure equitable and reasonable work schedules for all parties involved.

We will provide a workspace and workstation on campus but this is expected to be hybrid in nature. The specifics of this can be determined together in light of the project and your personal needs.


Typical Duties or Accountabilities:


  • Work with the student Development team, to research, consolidate, and merge the existing shARed spaces app/code with plugins from Vuforia to stabilize the app, and cleanup existing code and the database.
  • Work with Common Weal Community Arts to determine and expand existing community networks
  • Learn to scan 3D objects and create sample cases using Qlone or other 3D scanning apps
  • Use existing and/or build new 3D sculptures, animations, and other digital assets for user testing of consolidated build.
  • Develop and/or amend existing tutorials (in and video form) to guide users in how to develop and share digital art through the app
  • Research existing logistics/infrastructure and digital access in community through governmental agencies, service providers or community organizations such as schools, libraries and band councils.
  • Coordinate with organizations in our partner communities across Saskatchewan to hold community consultations and workshops
  • Your new position requires you to convene bimonthly meetings and coordinate the community Advisory Group, as well as facilitate biweekly or monthly meetings with the Design Team to provide updates; as well as maintain clear communication with project coordinators: Galleries Director, jake moore and faculty member Lisa Birke
  • Perform website updates and build/write project documentation
  • Write/collate reports for the Canada Council for the Arts
  • Manage the project budget in collaboration with the project coordinators
  • Make travel plans and bookings for Outreach Team to existing and new participating communities (yet to be determined) such as Little Pine, Poundmaker, Buffalo Narrows/Stony Rapids/Black Lake, La Ronge, Regina, North Battleford and Saskatoon
  • Determine community protocols and prepare Elder gifts
  • Expand and amend existing documentation regarding Intellectual Property, Copyright, and Artist Fees regarding digital dissemination of augmented content including both internal partners at the University as external partners including CARFAC, Access Copyright, and RAAV

Education:

Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Design, Art or a related discipline (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).


  • Experience in management and communityfacing practice
  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusivity training or equivalent

Skills:


  • Proficiency in word, excel, wordpress (or similar)
- image editing software (such as Photoshop or similar)
- video editing software (After Effects or similar)

  • Experience in 3D modeling, scanning
  • Unity or game development software, and/or augmented reality will be considered an asset.

Compensation:
This is a non-union/research administration position, Band 7, $36 per hour, $ bi-monthly.


Project Term:
The term of the appointment is one year, from July 3, 2023, until June 25, 2024.
