About The Home:
Mount Nemo Christian Nursing Home is a 61-bed long-term care facility located in north Burlington. Mount Nemo has a rich history and has been serving the community since 1985. The Home bases its care on Christian principles utilizing an interdisciplinary team approach.
About This Position:
The Dietary Aide is an active member of the multidisciplinary team and is responsible for helping to prepare, portion and serve meals, beverages, snacks/nourishments and catering items, as well as dish/cutlery sanitization.
Duties:
- Serve meals to residents in a professional and courteous manner
- Set up and clear dining tables
- Wash and store dishes, pots, utensils and other kitchen supplies and equipment
- Meet scheduled meal and snack times
- Deliver tray services as required
- Set up and prepare beverages, desserts, snack carts etc.
- Provide assistance to the cook in the preparation and service of meals
- Assist with maintaining the cleanliness of kitchen and dining area as required
- Receive and store food and supplies
- Attend staff meetings and inservice educational programs
- Assist in the orientation and training of new dietary employees
- Comply with all provincial regulations and established department policies and procedures
- Complete all other tasks as assigned by the Cook or the Nutrition Manager
Qualifications:
- Must have a current Food Handler's Certification
- Must have a current Vulnerable Sector Screening (within 6 months) or be willing to get it immediately upon hire
- Must have at least 2 doses of a COVID vaccine
- Must be able to read and understand English and be capable of following oral and written instructions thoroughly
- Must have knowledge in working in commercial kitchens
- Recognizing this is a healthcare facility, must have understanding of different diet textures and fluid consistencies
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time; push/pull heavy food carts; lift items
- Should have a certificate in or be enrolled in a Food Service Worker training program, recognized by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (student excepted)
- If not enrolled or currently enrolled in a FSW program and not completed within 3 years, employment will be ended
Job Types:
Part-time, Permanent
Salary:
$21.31 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Evening shift
- Weekend availability
COVID-19 considerations:
Active screening; regular rapid testing; universal masking; enhanced cleaning and disinfection
