KEY FUNCTIONS & ACCOUNTABILITIES
People

Safety
- Assist the H&S Manager with occupational health and safety analyses, OHS program development and implementation
- Support all OH&S responsibilities ensuring legal requirements are adhered to and applied in accordance with current policies and regulations and with the corporate vision for health and safety.
- Monitor, recommend and develop best practices, policies, procedures related to Health, Safety and Wellness
- Hands‐on participation of the Joint Health & Safety Committees
- Assist in the preparation of presentations of reports by collecting, analyzing, summarizing data, and identifying trends
- Ensure workplace inspections and safety audits are completed effectively and on‐time
- Ensure the effective coordination of safety training for internal and external courses.
- Conduct orientation for environmental and OHS related topics
- Participate in and lead incident investigations, planned inspections and regulatory compliance audits when required.
- Assist in the management of workplace injuries
- Ensure operational preparedness of the emergency response plans
- Ensure investigation, root‐cause analysis, employee review/retraining and the follow‐up of any identified action items for all safety related accidents and incidents
- Coordinates and assist in Certificate of Recognition (COR) audits
- Ensure the efficient and safe operation of all material handling equipment, keeping work areas clean and free of any safety hazards at all time
- Conduct and train employees on job hazard analysis, recognition, and safe operating procedures
- Conduct observation exercises and assess transfer of safety related knowledge
- Hazard Analysis evaluation, reduction, or elimination of hazards in work processes
- Prepare training schedules
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
The Health & Safety Coordinator requires a diploma or certificate from accredited institution in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) with a minimum of 5 years relevant safety experience with a preference of having worked in manufacturing and/or plant processing environment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND BEHAVIOURS
- Shift flexibility is a requirement
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant occupational health and safety and workers' compensation legislation, regulatory requirements, professional standards, and best practices
- COR audit proficiency
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and database management
- Knowledgeable to work in a unionized environment
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and deal with highly sensitive information in an effective manner
- Must have ability to remain flexible in a dynamic work environment
- Demonstrated excellence in relationship building
- Demonstrates selfawareness and constantly strives to improve
- Must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to effectively interact with ABCRC employees
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Excellent presentation skills
- Organizational skills and ability to handle several projects at once

Salary:
From $30.00 per hour
