Purpose
ARLANXEO Canada is looking for a Payroll Analyst with a Human Resource background.

Reporting to the Head of HR Canada, you will be responsible for processing payroll for Canadian hourly and salary employees and acting as backup to the Payroll Analyst in USA.

You will ensure compliance with payroll reporting and related legal requirements.

Working with the local, regional, and global HR teams you will assist with coordinating an increase in payroll service performance and improve the payroll system to meet the needs of the organization.


Key Accountabilities:


Include by not limited to:

  • Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely
  • Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports
  • Track and reconcile payment of payroll tax remittances. Prepare all payroll journal entries and assist with account reconciliations.
  • Prepare and submit all necessary paperwork for tax deductions, benefits, and garnishments.
  • Execute time and attendance processing and interface with payroll
  • Address and resolve employee inquiries or complaints relating to payroll activities
  • Analyze compensationrelated data including wages and bonuses.
  • Manage payment calendars for the fiscal year
  • Maintain personnel database regarding salaries
  • Process accurate and timely yearend reporting when necessary (T4's etc.)
  • Understand proper taxation of employer paid benefit
  • Develop ad hoc financial and operational reporting as needed
  • Update and reconcile monthly bank statements from Payroll Provider
  • Design, document and implement procedures to streamline payroll processes.
  • Conduct regular audits on payroll procedures and records
  • Access HRIS to report on trends and emerging issues. Gather statistics, analyze, and prepare reports on a variety of HR issues or procedures.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and best practices to influence human resources strategies
  • Participate in HR projects

Experience & Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent
- a minimum of 5 years' experience processing union and non-union payroll, preferred

  • Working knowledge of payroll best practices
  • Strong knowledge of federal and provincial regulations
  • Knowledge of human resources principals, and processes and ability to provide advice and operational support on a wide range of HR matters
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, ability to communicate with various levels of management
  • High degree of professionalism, strong work ethic and a team player
  • Working knowledge of time entry and payroll systems, Ceridian preferred
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
  • Good decisionmaking, problemsolving and analytical skills
  • Proven MS Excel skills preferred (vlookups, pivot tables, formulas, data integrity, data security)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • HRIS experience
  • Sound knowledge of human resources principals, and processes and ability to provide advice and operational support on a wide range of HR matters
