What do you offer?


Reporting to the Philanthropy & Community Engagement Manager, the Outreach Coordinator provides support for the research, preparation and crafting of funding proposals, as well as assisting with the planning and execution of signature outreach initiatives at the YMCA of the National Capital Region.


Some of the tasks of this position include:

  • Performing administrative work in researching, identifying, developing and responding to funding opportunities with government agencies and private or corporate foundations.
  • Assisting with the planning and implementation of comprehensive funding and relationship building events.
  • Communicating with multiple stakeholders, including donors, sponsors, vendors, members, partners and colleagues.
  • As per the Protecting Children, Youth, and Vulnerable Persons Policy, staff of the YMCA will take allegations of abuse seriously.
  • All staff members are familiar with their duty to report and the procedure for reporting suspected abuse or neglect of a child.

What qualifications and abilities are we looking for?

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or public relations preferred

Language

  • Fluent in English, oral and written
  • Bilingualism an asset

Experience, Skills and Abilities

  • A minimum of three years' experience in marketing, fundraising and/or communications, preferably in the notforprofit sector
  • Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience coordinating events and leading projects
  • Wellversed in various social media tools, such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram
  • Willing to work outside of regular office hours, as necessary
  • Commitment to working as a part of crossfunctional teams
  • Experience working with volunteers is desirable

Additional Requirements:


  • Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada.
  • Criminal Reference Check for the Vulnerable Sector, not more than 6 months old is required.
  • Annually all staff must complete the mandatory training for the Protecting Children, Youth, and Vulnerable Persons, and submit the certificate of completion.
