We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Geographic Information System Technologist to join our Gas Engineering and
Construction group located in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This position will assist with the administration, population, maintenance, storage,
acceptance and dissemination of the associated eGIS databases of land base and gas distribution facilities information. From this
data will produce and maintain a wide variety of complex distribution related drawings. The majority of the work is to be done using
the GE Smallworld Core and Design Manager software, AutoCAD, and FME.


_ Responsibilities:
_


  • Assist with the maintenance and advancement of the Geospatial land base system as it relates to the Dominion Government
land survey system (DGSS).

  • GE Smallworld Core software to be utilized and updated for all GE Smallworld platform users.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate gas distribution system data relative to the Geospatial land base in the eGIS Distribution

- databases.
  • Perform conflict resolution on gas and electric objects.
  • Utilize quality control and quality assurance procedures to correct invalid data.
  • Insert and georeference consultant drawings and/or other land base using FME or SOMS tools for gas and electric design.
  • Liaise with Gas/Electric Engineering & Construction staff, field staff, public utilities, and others, to obtain or supply pertinent
information on existing or proposed distribution plant to facilitate drawing accuracies, drawing preparation and maintenance of
the eGIS Distribution databases (MER contribution updates).

  • Review work order design drawings (including "as built" status) and crossing drawings (river, railway, pipeline) and ensure
those drawings follow Manitoba Hydro gas drafting standards by working closely with staff in the Design Section.

_ Qualifications:
_


  • A diploma in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technology or Geomatics Technology from an institute of recognized
standing and a minimum of two years directly related experience.
Or

  • Minimum Grade 12 graduation and completion of six approved technical courses in Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
and three years directly related experience.

  • Demonstrated specialized skills in using a personal computer and associated support hardware and software in particular
plotters, GE Smallworld Core and Design Manager, AutoCAD, and FME.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of distribution system terminology, symbology and equipment.
  • Working knowledge of fundamental mathematics, in particular, geometry and trigonometry.
  • Working knowledge of surveying principles.
  • Demonstrated ability of assembling cadastral data and preparing detailed and accurate land base plans.
  • Demonstrated ability of assembling technical data and preparing detailed plans of the distribution system with accuracy and

- precision.
  • Ability to execute professional quality drawings in electronic drawing format.
  • Required to possess a valid Province of Manitoba Class 5 Driver Licence.

_ Salary Range_
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $31.31-$43.31 Hourly,
$59,998.64-$82,986.80 Annually.
