Summer 2023- Insurance-Associate Business Specialist


Please note:

This posting is for a 4-month Student Summer 2023 placement with a start date of May 2023, and end-date of August 2023.

In order to be eligible for this 4-month Student position, you must either:


  • Be returning to school after the work term enddate of August 2023; or
  • If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating in August 2023), you must require the work term as a mandatory component to in order to graduate successfully.

What is the opportunity?


Reinsurance Operations has an opportunity for a Reinsurance Analyst summer student to perform various tasks to support and enhance the effective administration of the business.


What will you do?

  • Learn the fundamentals of reinsurance and how it is used to protect RBC's insurance business.
  • Lead a reorganization project to more efficiently manage the department's online and physical storage capacities.
  • Ensure online reinsurance contracts (i.e. treaties) in the Treaty Reinsurance Information Portal (TRIP) system are complete and accurate.
  • Review new treaty and amendment documents and identify potential risks and opportunities.
  • Review eligible treaties for costsaving opportunities through data analysis.
  • Convert current process documentation to new format for online storage in Policy & Procedures Library (PPL).
  • Support daytoday processing on the ceded reinsurance administration system (TAI) as needed.

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have:


  • Currently enrolled at a Canadian postsecondary institution with a focus in business, commerce, or an equivalent.
  • Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Creative and analytical thinker who is selfdriven and capable of working in a fast paced environment.
  • Strong MS Office skills
  • Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.

Nice to have:


  • Capability to manage multiple priorities across a number of assignments and prioritize effectively.
  • Motivated and analytical, with strong achievement orientation and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of Insurance and/or reinsurance.
