About the role:

Your passion, strong payroll accounting expertise, knowledge, exceptional collaboration and communication abilities are strengths that will be critical in the delivery of services.

The analyst will work closely with the internal Finance department, external Financial Consultants and with the Payroll administrator to help support the financial system.

This role often requires working collaboratively with others in the organization to prepare/analyze detailed reports on a monthly basis.

This position also offers the opportunity to grow and develop through various projects and initiatives, teaming up with friendly, supportive internal and external partners.

Execution and/or support of our biweekly, monthly, quarterly and annual payroll accounting functions.


Responsibilities:


  • Support the Finance Department lead in overseeing the Finance system of JHSO
  • Providing guidance to the Financial team on the reconciliation between Finance and Payroll.
  • Back up to the Payroll function as required.
  • Coordinating and ensuring tasks and deadlines are met in a timely fashion under the supervision of the Finance Department lead, as well as the external Consultants (Zenbooks)
  • Support of implementing Finance and Accounting policies, procedures, and standards
  • Support maintenance of internal controls to ensure compliance with financial and agency policies and procedures
  • Provide problemsolving support to the finance team

Reporting and Financial Statements

  • Support the preparation of the annual JHSO budget
  • Ensure adherence to the terms of all service contracts and agreements for funding to ensure that organization is protected from risk
  • Produce and compile data for monthly, quarterly, semiannually, and yearly reports to the EDO departmental program revenue and expenditures
  • Analyze and review financial statements, reports, general ledger accounts, and examining supporting papers, including the review of monthly reconciliations.

Program Funding and Reporting

  • Prepare and analyze regular financial reports for each program area and, in consultation with manager and finance unit personnel, maintains current and accurate financial projections for each program area in relation to expenditures
  • Recommend budget reallocations and resource requirements to managers and/or Director
  • Ensure reporting requirements for all funders are met by submission dates
  • Develop and provide training to Program Managers re: finance processes and report submissions that are applicable across the agency

Payroll

  • Verify and reconcile payroll to the GL
  • Support any adjustments needing to be made in program financials related to staffing
  • Generate salary reports needed to compile funder reports
  • Support the review of EHT submissions
  • Back up to the Payroll function as required

Qualifications:


  • Experience in full accounting cycle, Payroll Processing (ADP Workforce Now) and financial analysis
  • University or College Diploma in Accounting or related discipline
  • 3 5 years' experience in Accounting, Analysis, and Budgeting
  • Knowledge of federal and provincial legislation affecting charities, charitable status including CRA regulations considered an asset
  • Knowledge or experience with Xero, Dext, Plooto software considered an asset
