We are currently looking for a
Communications Advisor specializing in Internal & External communications to join our Communications & Stakeholder Relations team.


Position Summary:


The
Communications Advisor, Internal and External Communications, will lead the execution of internal communications strategies and support a range of special projects aimed at internal audiences and the public.

This position reports to the Director, Communications.


Job Requirements:


  • Support the delivery of a proactive internal communications program that amplifies the corporate strategic plan, spans traditional and nontraditional channels and keeps TSSA's office and fieldbased workforce feeling connected, informed and engaged.
  • Deliver solid communication plans as required to support a variety of corporate objectives driving TSSA's transformation into an Outcome-Based Regulator, as well as employeefocused initiatives, including culture and values, strategic organizational changes, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, and business performance efforts
  • Identify/create mechanisms to effectively and efficiently deliver corporate messaging /information for employees
  • Manage the corporate intranet to ensure its ongoing value as a trusted resource for all staff. Create content and update the site daily.
  • Provide writing, editing and graphic design services across the organization as required, with an emphasis on plain language.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to improve the cascade of information across the organization and support change management efforts.
  • Develop key messages to support leaders throughout the organization in delivering essential information to staff.
  • Lead and/or assist in the writing, editing and production of various internal materials, including newsletters, presentations, Q+As, video segments, intranet articles, organizational announcements etc.
  • Coordinate logistics for key internal events, such as corporationwide town halls, lunch and learn sessions, employee appreciation events etc.
  • Help promote TSSA as an employer of choice and support recruitment efforts
  • Maintain TSSA's internal brand standards
  • Work with external vendors when/as required to ensure deliverables are high quality, on time and within budget.
  • Supports TSSA by promoting and enhancing public safety education through:
  • Coordination of public education campaign planning and execution logistics (e.g. distribution of campaign materials, safety messaging and information to Ontario public; development of contact and media lists)
  • Engagement and coordination of stakeholders/partnerships and activities such as local fire departments and other safety partners; vendor management
  • Content production such as media materials and social media posts
  • Successfully complete other duties as assigned as part of the broader comms team, such as external communications

Responsibilities:


  • Postsecondary diploma or degree in English, communications, journalism, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 35 years of related experience working as a generalist in a communications or public relations role in a complex, multistakeholder environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, an ability to write in various styles and formats for various audiences using plain language and a story telling approach
  • Solid understanding of internal and external communications practices and principles
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to support and be a trusted advisor to others
  • Advance knowledge of, and experience using the Microsoft Office Suite (Word and PowerPoint).
  • Experience with InDesign or other graphic design software
  • Familiarity with culture change and change management principles is a strong asset.
  • Relationship management and partnershipbuilding skills with internal and external contacts
  • Experience working in or with the Government of Ontario or an Ontario public sector entity will be given additional consideration
