ROLE:


The Meter Service Technician is responsible for a wide variety of duties, including but not limited to, the inspection, maintenance, repair and replacement of all metering systems for the Company.

The Meter Service Technician is also responsible for performing scheduled preventive maintenance on Company metering systems.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Level 1

  • Obtain reads for Billing/ reboot servers/Warehouse support
  • Manual Meter Downloads (Electricity)
  • Manual Meter Reads (Water, Gas, Thermal)
  • Hand held reads (wireless projects)
- reboot onsite computers/network devices

  • Warehouse support including deliveries and inventory counts (Union and nonUnion workers to complete counts)
  • All Meter communication wiring support including but limited to Phone/Ethernet, RS485, low voltage cable installation and termination
  • Installation of metering related equipment to support installations and operations
  • Contacting properties for access
  • Miscellaneous meter commissioning as required
  • Miscellaneous administrative work as required

REQUIREMENTS

Level 1

  • Minimum secondary school diploma with postsecondary technical education/certification
  • Prior experience as a technician preferred
  • Passing grade on Provident Knowledge exam
  • Fundamentals in Electrical Safety course to be completed
  • Working knowledge of electrical safety guidelines and Electricity Act
  • Ability to properly use PPE provided and utilize mandatory health & safety training i.e. WAH, WHMIS etc.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with ability to communicate factual information clearly
  • Ability to use hand tools, volt meter and basic test equipment/instruments
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively, ensuring safety standards and established procedures are followed.
  • Ability to detect apparent problems and identify issues that require further investigation
  • A valid Ontario license and reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance will be necessary for travel to sites.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Daily travel with own automobile to and from job sites, generally within but occasionally outside the GTA.
  • Ability to attend and conduct presentations.
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
  • Overtime as required.
  • Lifting or moving up to 50lbs may be required.
