Due to our growing business, we have one opening available in our Quality Control Department for a Quality Control Technician.


Position Description
Reporting to the supervisor of Quality Control department, the technician will:

  • Perform incoming inspection (Raw Materials Identity Tests) and analytical testing (SG, RI, pH, Viscosity, UV-Vis etc) of raw materials with appropriate documentation as per FSSC 22000 and compliance requirements.
  • Conduct inprocess (semi finished) and finished product inspection test and release the batch as required.
  • Review manufacturing and or compounding operator check sheets to ensure accuracy of information including but not limited to: supplier's name, lot number, country of origin, and Quantity.
  • Extensively involved in sensory evaluation as per established guidelines on flavouring samples, raw materials, and finished products.
  • Manage lot wise sample collection of each raw ingredients purchased and manufactured. Also collect and manage holdbacks of each sample at various stages of manufacturing control.
  • Evaluate raw materials and finished product as per established procedure in order for compliance and applicable standard conformance and enter quality data into ERPX3 Sage system.
  • Perform batch documentation reviews and assists root cause analysis during nonconformances, scheduled audits, product failures, customer/consumer complaints and participate in corrective and preventive actions through continual improvements
  • Participate to control critical control point (CCP) monitoring and implementing Food Safety Management system (FSMS)
  • Assist to determine ingredient Shelflife, GMO status and in furnishing Specification Sheets, Certificate of Analysis (CofA), MSDS sheets, Nutritional Label, Microtest outsourcing, Kosher Status and Country of Origin.
  • Perform well documented lab equipments and scales calibration in accordance with established procedures and validating employed test methods, cleaning procedures and overall HACCP effectiveness.
  • Maintain all Quality Assurance and Control records in safe, secure and orderly manner into computerized ERPX3 Sage system.
  • Attend extensive training to enhance or develop own knowledge and skills to do things right at first place paying attention to details.
  • Other laboratory duties as directed

Qualifications

  • Must have a recognized Food Science or food chemistry Diploma.
  • Two years of similar industry work experience in a Quality Control capacity is preferred.
  • Must possess the ability to work in a fast paced, team environment and be highly organized with excellent verbal and written communication and documentation skills in English.
  • Experience with Sensory evaluation, GMP, SOP and Sanitation Standard Operating procedures (SSOP).
  • Conversant with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Documentation Practice (GDP) requirements.
  • Experience or knowledge of FSSC 22000, FSMS, HACCP, Sensory Evaluation methods, Shelf Life Evaluation Protocols and ERPX3 Sage system will definitely be an asset.
