We are looking for a highly talented and engaging Learning & Development Specialist for our
BURNCO Team, reporting to the Director, Human Resources.

As the Learning and Development Specialist you will design, develop, and implement instructional activities.

This role will develop innovative learning solutions to ensure we have effective job training and digital learning resources in place.

You will collaborate with stakeholders to implement training resources and deliver formal training in a timely and effective manner. This role may also be responsible for supporting and developing training initiatives across the organization as required.

In this role, you will be a strategic partner and advisor in all areas of
BURNCO's safety training, career development, and leadership development programs including developing dynamic and effective training materials and courses, setting up and managing an online Learning Management System, and partnering with external training providers.

Please be advised that this role is available as a fixed-term month contract.

We are looking for someone who knows that for training programs to be effective you need to know your audience and provide them with the information they need in a clear, concise, and comprehensive manner.

They also understand that training needs to be more than just a push of information or "tick-the-box" exercise. Effective training ensures absorption of the new information, tests for competency, and encourages ongoing life-long learning.


This role is for you if you are a creative thinker and a doer who rolls up your sleeves and proactively builds relationships with people to share meaningful training programs that support the talented and hardworking people on our
BURNCO team.


What You Will Be Doing

  • Managing the learning lifecycle including, curriculum design, content development, delivery, measurement, maintenance, and improvements.
  • Building content for and managing & maintaining the LMS, including evaluating training completion and pass rates, training time vs. efficiency, user adoption, and emerging trends
  • Leveraging innovative learning technologies including social, mobile, microlearning and gamification
  • Managing training records and conducting regular training audits
  • Designing, producing, and facilitating learnercentric training materials and courses based on best practice adult learning principles, both in person and online
  • Testing new learning and development programs with key stakeholders before launching to obtain buyin and ensure programs meet business needs.
  • Collaborating and supporting HR on the creation of a formal leadership development program for current and future leaders
  • Developing an online New Hire Orientation program.
  • Evaluating current and new programs by reviewing and measuring feedback from participants on the effectiveness and delivery of learning objectives and revising them for ongoing improvements
  • Determining the best methods for creating awareness about learning and development programs
  • Fostering a culture of continuous learning across the organization
  • Other duties are to support the
    BURNCO teams and further build their skills.

What We Would Like From You

Education
  • A bachelor's degree in education or related program. Certified Training and Development Professional (CTDP) or Certified Training Practitioner (CTP) designation is preferred.

Professional Experience

  • You have a minimum of 3 years of experience working in a learning & development and facilitator role managing companywide programs. Experience working with safetysensitive industries is preferred.

  • You understand adult education program delivery trends and best practices.
