Role Summary
We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Phlebotomist to join our dynamic and rapidly expanding clinic. This role involves collaborating with physicians, medical providers, and patients to deliver exceptional fertility treatment services.


The Fertility Phlebotomist will be responsible for performing blood collection procedures for patients undergoing fertility treatments or reproductive health evaluations.

Accuracy and safety in blood sample collection, meticulous documentation, and adherence to established protocols and standards.

Close collaboration with fertility specialists, nurses, and laboratory staff will be crucial to ensure efficient sample processing and optimal patient care.


Role Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures on patients, adhering to standardized protocols and maintaining aseptic techniques.
  • Verify patient identities, explain procedures, and address any concerns or anxieties they may have about blood collection.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring proper disposal of biohazardous materials and adherence to infection control practices.
  • Label and handle collected blood samples appropriately, ensuring accurate documentation of patient information, date, time, and other necessary details.
  • Prepare blood samples for transportation to the laboratory, following proper handling and storage guidelines.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure timely and accurate processing of blood samples.
  • Manage inventory of phlebotomy supplies and equipment, restocking as needed.
  • Adhere to all relevant legal and ethical guidelines, maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy.
  • Assist in the maintenance and calibration of phlebotomy equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results.
  • Stay updated on current phlebotomy techniques, safety practices, and regulatory guidelines related to fertility phlebotomy.
  • Maintain a friendly, courteous, and sympathetic demeanor when interacting with patients.
  • Familiarize oneself with all new or revised procedures as they become available and stay current through regular review of the Laboratory Manual.
  • Participate in safety programs within the clinic.
  • Keep uptodate quality assurance records for tests and procedures performed in the Laboratory.
  • Promote a positive work environment and culture, taking personal accountability for conduct, and actively engaging in staff meetings.
  • Other duties, as assigned

Required Qualifications

Formal Education or Equivalent

  • Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent
  • Certification in Phlebotomy

Mandatory Experience

  • Minimum of five years of Laboratory experience specific to phlebotomy techniques
  • One must have 3 years of experience working at a Fertility clinic.

  • Experience with effective puncture techniques
  • Understanding of proper patient identification methods
  • Knowledge and experience working on the Roche Cobas blood hormone analyzer
  • Knowledge of legal requirements about drawing blood, handling fluid samples and use of relevant medical equipment and material
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work safely and accurately, follow directives from assigned Clinic Manager, and complete assigned tasks promptly
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member and adjust to varying work assignments as needed, or independently, as required
  • Mid level computer skills
