The Calgary West Central Primary Care Network (CWC PCN) is seeking a health information management professional to lead our EMR training and projects.

The EMR Project Lead is responsible for the development, management, administration, delivery, and quality of electronic medical record (EMR) system orientation and training at the CWC PCN.

This position plays a critical role in preparing employees to work in member clinics on various EMR systems in support of the Patient's Medical Home.


Responsibilities:


EMR orientation

  • Develop and share knowledge of EMR systems, including training programs and user guides.
  • Facilitate workshops and individual sessions in addition to technical skills training, such as conducting searches, extracting data, creating templates with searchable data, completing encounter notes, etc.
  • Develop and maintain standardized documentation (e.g., EMR user guides and resources) to support EMR use for multiple audiences.
  • Develop learning objectives, curriculums, and training schedules related to EMR use for PCN staff.
  • Monitor, anticipate, adapt, and respond to ongoing and changing needs for EMR training across the PCN.
  • Provide orientation training for EMR systems to PCN staff.
  • Provide ongoing and ad hoc EMR training support for PCN staff.
  • Manage and maintain EMR sandboxes for training purposes.

Patient's Medical Home support:


  • Develop and implement a standard approach for creating, saving, and generating queries across all EMRs.
  • Consult with the Patient's Medical Home team on EMRrelated questions.
  • Support EMR data testing audit and feedback processes for PCN data warehouse development.
  • Provide oversight and quality assurance on largescale deployment of custom templates and report development within the EMRs to support PCN reporting initiatives.
  • Maintain relationships with EMR vendors.
  • Support the development of resources for physicians to understand how the EMR can support Patient's Medical Home activities.
  • Collaborate on the implementation of EMRrelated projects (e.g., creating EMR user guides, developing EMR workshops, etc.).
  • Work closely with the Data Warehouse Developer to audit and address rejected data extraction files and work with Health Information Coordinators to ensure data is extracted in a consistent and accurate way.
  • Identify and log tasks within the JIRA platform (e.g., incoming requests for ad hoc data extractions and report developing).
  • Other EMR support as required.

Qualifications:


Education:
A health information management diploma from an accredited institution is required.


Experience:

A minimum of two years' experience working with EMRs in either a hospital or primary care setting is required.

Proven success managing projects from inception to completion is an asset. Training in adult education is an asset.


Certification:
Active or eligible for registration with the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA).


Background check:
A clear Criminal Background check is required to start.
