What you will do:
Reporting to the Manager, International Student Services, the International Student Services Coordinator is responsible for providing logístical and administrative support to facilitate the arrival and settlement of international students.
The incumbent will ensure that Humber staff, and our student community of approximately 9,600 new and returning students, at all Humber locations, will receive timely and accurate support.
Key duties include:
responsible for tracking of data and administration related to the international health insurance program; administrative/coordination support for all international Orientation activities; administrative/coordination/scheduling support for activities such as on-campus and off-campus workshops and events (online and in-person); and developing and conducting quantitative and qualitative analyses in support of Humber's comprehensive internationalization activities and strategies that support the international students transition to Humber.
The incumbent will, at times, deal with sensitive and highly confidential information.The incumbent also communicates directly with the general public, event guests, applicants, registered students, graduates, parents, faculty, and college administrators.
During peak times, the International Student Service Coordinator responds to a very high volume of requests.
The incumbent is expected to work on various assignments associated with the International Centre that have guidelines and strict deadlines whereby the individual is required to coordinate multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
What you bring to the role:
Education
Three (3) year advanced diploma in Business, Public Relations, Event Management, Project Management, or a related field.
Experience & Skills
Minimum of 2 years of experience in:
- Event management and coordination
- Incumbent must have very strong analytical and communication skills along with knowledge of the college setting.
- Proficient in data analysis and able to make recommendations regarding increased use of technology or implementation of automation (where appropriate).
- Incumbent must demonstrate the ability to coordinate ongoing projects with the ability to provide project leadership.
- Ability to research and develop new business processes.
- Incumbent must demonstrate familiarity with standard business processes and reporting.
- Incumbent must be able to develop evaluation methods to improve future service delivery.
- Demonstrated use of initiative in workload planning and proactive approach in addressing student concerns. Providing adequate follow up to complaints and concerns.
- Practical experience in a complex, fastpaced, diverse service environment that involves crosscultural sensitive information, financial transactions, tracking, and inquiry management.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex policies and procedures concisely and effectively.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks, frequent interruptions and fluctuating volumes
- Ability to remain calm during an emergency or when dealing with difficult people or situations.
- Flexibility in working as a team member or independently.
- Excellent punctuality and attendance.
- Fluency in a second language other than English is preferred.
