Bechtel is seeking an experienced Tunnels Delivery Manager for prospective project in the Greater Toronto Area, Ontario, Canada.
This position will become part of a team serving as the primary source of sound professional oversight of project delivery the client's compliance with regulatory and stakeholder requirements, procurement, risk management, and construction expertise and judgement in all phases of the Project works.
Position Summary
The Tunnels Delivery Manager is responsible for managing, coordinating, and administering Tunnelling works from the conceptual stages through project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Assists in the development of Tunnelling works execution plans and contract formulation activities.
- Provides overall supervision and project management leadership on tunnelling scope, best pactices/lessons learned, and design execution.
- Manages tunnelling works contracts with the Client, monitoring and controlling contractual commitments to ensure that all tunnelling work is being performed in accordance with specifications, drawings, and terms of the contract.
- Support and lead meetings with both Client and Contractor to promote and facilitate communication, performance and progress, discuss issues, and facilitate problem resolution.
- Track, monitor and communicate performance against project requirements, quality measures, milestones, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Develop, track, monitor key milestones and schedules.
- Review status reports from tunnelling project teams/contractor and address issues with portfolio impacts as appropriate.
- Implement approved processes and procedures to ensure successful execution of the project.
- Health, safety, environment, quality, schedule, and cost performance for tunnelling scope.
- Leading a team of assigned tunnelling SME's and team members.
- Ensures that documentation and electronic files are maintained in accordance with project requirements.
- Reporting progress and escalating issues to the DP Manager.
- Champion the creation of a project work environment to foster trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
- Zippering with the tunnelling contractor equivalent.
- Zippering with the customer tunnelling group and other IPT members to support delivery of the work.
- Reviewing and managing contractor output for tunnelling activities.
- Identifying and escalating nonconformances to scope and contractual obligations.
- Identifying potential delivery risks to tunnelling scope and recommending actions to avoid or mitigate.
- Recommending actions to mitigate the impact of emerging delivery issues and following up.
- Monitoring delivery of assigned scope and recommending actions to improve the outcome of the ECWE.
- Monitoring and maintaining tunnelling activity risk register.
Qualifications and Skills
Basic Qualifications:
- Relevant bachelor's degree from an accredited university and a minimum of twelve (12) years' experience in delivery of large Tunnelling Infrastructure projects of $500M+ in value in Project Management focused roles.
- Professional Degree in engineering or equivalent.
- Strong technical knowledge and experience in tunnelling construction and methods
- Project management, engineering, construction, project controls, and procurement experience
- Experience monitoring and QA/QC on contractor performance
- Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.
- Experience of working on infrastructure megaprojects, preferably rail projects in urban areas.
