The Provincial Program Manager will support existing ambulatory MHSU programs and services across BCW including Reproductive Mental Health and the Addiction Medicine Consult Service (SURF).

The Provincial Program Manager will also provide leadership support in developing, implementing, and operationalizing several exciting net new mental health and substance initiatives meant to support women and families at BCW impacted by mental health and/or substance use concerns.


What you'll do

  • Provide leadership and manage the development, implementation, and evaluation of healthy weight and lifestyle programs in support of strategic BCCH initiatives. Manage a diversity of programs/ related projects of varying scope, including the Shapedown BC Provincial Program, in a complex and changing multidisciplinary environment and with a diversity of stakeholders. Maintain responsibility for ensuring that programs and related projects are completed in adherence to project protocols/ charters/ agreements, timelines, applicable institutional and ethical policies and procedures, and pertinent privacy legislation.
  • Manage the delivery of the healthy weight (Shapedown BC) program throughout the province (via License Agreement with Ministry of Health), including overseeing program planning, coordinating, and evaluation. Represent PHSA in negotiations with a wide variety of community and hospital agencies to achieve program goals and objectives.
  • Manage community liaison initiatives with hospital and community based partners to encourage involvement of health authorities, BC Ministries, and others as appropriate in the development of local and provincial programs.
  • Provide operational management and direction to team members, clinic counselors, dietitians, family physicians and administrative staff with respect to implementing program protocols and clinic policies, procedures and best practices as required.
  • Oversee provincial program consultation and networking strategies to regional, community and pediatric centres and other organizations to promote the development and integration of additional healthy lifestyles programs in B.C. Provide managerial expertise to health authorities in establishing centres for healthy weight and lifestyle programs in their region.
  • Oversee the management of licensing, sublicensing and oversight of PHSA programs within BC and to other jurisdictions outside of BC wishing to establish a licensed program.

What you bring

  • A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Master's Degree in a relevant health related discipline with a minimum of (5) years recent and related clinical experience in current best practices within a health care system including experience in pediatric obesity management, plus three years of leadership and supervisory experience involving program planning, implementation and evaluation, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Registered Dietitian qualification considered an asset. Certification(s) as or enrollment toward a change management, project management (PMP), conflict management designation is preferred.

You also have:

  • Experience or working knowledge of pediatric obesity, mental health, disordered eating and human metabolism.
  • Awareness of the role of health systems and policy, population health, illness prevention, health promotion, knowledge exchange and change management.
  • Knowledge of policy development and ability to work with the Ministry of Health, the regional health authorities and many diverse sectors.
  • Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls calls for justice, and how they intersect across the health care system.
  • Ability to support team members on their learning journey, ensuring education strategy for team/department to implement Indigenous Cultural Safety at a practical level.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with appropriate Indigenous teams/departments to ensure ICS lens applied holistically.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act
