This role is responsible for providing a complete range of payroll, benefits for the Sun Life Financial Distribution advisors and the sales incentive program administrative services for several internal business units teams.

You will work very closely with the other managers and team leads within Distribution Compensation Services on delivering outstanding service to our advisors.

In this role, you will have considerable interaction with Sun Life Financial Distribution advisors; the district offices; the Regional Vice Presidents; Legal; New Business; Compliance; Group Benefits and other teams within Distribution Compensation Services.


This position is accountable for:

- all commissions and payroll for SLFD advisors;
- administration of SLFD Sales Incentive Plan;
- monitoring and investigating the collection of the advisor debt balances;
- managing benefits plan for SLFD advisors; and
- ensuring people, processes, best practices, and contractual and business rules work in unison to deliver exceptional service.


What will you do?

  • Develop, coach and lead payroll, benefits & sales incentive program team with commissions and bonuses as require
  • Develop, coach and lead benefits team leading the benefits plan for SLFD Advisors
  • Respond to payroll related inquiries from advisors, as well as other individuals and teams within head office, including external business partners;
- reviewing service standard and workflow management reports, initiating process improvements where necessary;

  • Supporting team with tax deductions for the Sun Life Financial Distribution advisors and remittance of tax installments to CRA;
- enhancing and following through on audits and controls for payroll processes; and guidance and decisions on complex and exception situations.

  • Leverage technology to improve the team's performance
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers, distribution partners and colleagues

What do you need to succeed?

  • Minimum of 5 years experience managing a productionoriented team
  • Superior leadership skills, ability to create win/win solutions with business partners and facilitate crossdepartmental teamwork that meets the needs of the business strategy
  • Strong and proficient knowledge of Excel
  • Outstanding communication skills written and verbal
  • Energetic, enthusiastic and have the ability to interact professionally with people at all levels of the company and externally
  • Proficient organization and timemanagement skills, ability to establish priorities and multitask
  • An ability to build context by pushing beyond "how things are done" to understand "why"
  • A keen sense of how to optimize business
  • An ability to think outside of the box to come up with creative and new solutions
  • Relentless pursuit in improving our client experience
  • Strong influencing skills that allow you to drive for change and execute ideas through to completion
  • As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English and Frenchspeaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada or worldwide.
