As the Development Associate, you will work closely with the development team on key tasks associated with the development portfolio.

As your knowledge of our projects develops, you will be encouraged to take on an increasing ownership in fulfilling our developments across their various stages of the entitlement process.

This is a diverse role with opportunities for mentorship and growth within our client's organization.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide tactical direction to the development team on various projects and assignments.
  • Prepare development schedules and assist in the preparation of budgets.
  • Support Development Managers throughout the entitlement and approval process.
  • Review and analyze architectural, civil, landscaping, and utility drawings and become familiar with contract documents, specifications, municipal/regional standards, and special provisions to support permit preparation.
  • Coordinate, monitor, and manage multidisciplined consultants with assistance of Development Managers
  • Including: draft plans, zoning, official plan, site plans, minor variances, subdivision registration, etc.
  • Organize and attend project meetings; manage and track consultant progress.
  • Manage schedules, lead meetings, and provide clear reporting on overall project progress.
  • Prepare and facilitate Requests for Proposals (RFPs) as required for project specific tasks.
  • Maintain project files ensuring appropriate access and version control to all users.
  • Oversee tracking of development agreements to safeguard fulfillment of according. commitments.
  • Liaise with internal accounting, construction, design, and client relations teams as necessary.
  • Be able to anticipate issues and take a proactive approach to the role.
  • Support acquisitions and due diligence.
  • Stay current on industry and municipal policies and standards.

Key Qualifications

  • Ability to read and understand architectural and civil drawings, or a willingness to learn.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail; including ability to proofread and edit materials.
  • Ability to work independently, and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, strategic thinking, and forward planning.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat. Experience with Microsoft Project or other project management software and AutoCAD is considered an asset.
  • Possession of an active Driver's License and access to a vehicle with all required businessrelated transportation expenses to be reimbursed by the organization.

Education/Experience:


  • Completion of a degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Real Estate Business, Architecture and/or minimum of 3 years relevant work experience
