Indigenous Engagement team. Are you ready to be our

ABOUT THE ROLE


The Administration role will provide administrative support to Indigenous Engagement and Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (I.D.E.A.) committee teams, enhancing Bissell Centre's Indigenous Engagement portfolio and assisting in achieving the strategic goals and objectives of Bissell's Indigenous Engagement Strategy.


This position will be required to perform an array of administrative duties including secretarial and receptionist duties, such as arranging meetings, minute-taking during confidential meetings, and scheduling appointments concerning the processes and procedures of the Indigenous Engagement department, in addition to more complex functions and services such as process improvement processes and project coordination.

This individual is expected to assist with any administrative duties such as training records, implementation timelines and communications around Indigenous Engagement strategic milestones and tracking timelines.

The General Administrator is also responsible for administration duties for our I.D.E.A. committee.


Duties and Responsibilities

Administration

  • Provide direct administrative and office management support to the Director of
  • Indigenous Engagement and Integrated Family Services and the I.D.E.A committee as directed by verbal or written instruction.
  • Receive incoming mail; review, evaluate, and distribute correspondence requiring priority attention of Director of Indigenous Engagement and Family Services

Departmental Support

  • Prepare meeting schedules, room bookings for meetings, and make reservations for Indigenous Engagement team or Director in connection with administrative matters.
  • Review all documents, reports, and correspondence prepared for signature of the Director of Indigenous Engagement and Integrated Family Services and I.D.E.A. committee chair for format, content, grammar, and spelling, and make edits as necessary.
  • Prepare draft reports, background documentation, and research.
  • General Administrator
  • Coordinate Administrative department office activities; troubleshoot or escalate basic office administration issues.
  • Facilitate communication from department managers, and project managers.
  • Take and transcribe dictation as needed.
  • Assist with any planning or implementation documentation and organization.
  • First point of contact for any questions, concerns or suggestions for the Indigenous Engagement department.
  • Participating in Process Improvement Projects
  • Other Duties as required.

Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities
-
Education: Post-secondary diploma in administration or another relevant field or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years' experience in similar and/or relevant position, with an emphasis on administration in non-profits.

Sector Knowledge: Familiarity with issues of poverty and Edmonton's urban core and knowledge of relevant community and government resources.


Conditions of Work

  • Flexibility of the working day is inherent in the position. The workload fluctuates. Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends may be required.
  • Participation in organizational wide Community Safety Walks in the area of Bissell East and West, daily interactions with participants and community members served.
