    The Faculty of Health Disciplines at Athabasca University invites applications for a 1.0 FTE Assistant/Associate (tenure track) position in the FHD, Master of Nursing/Nurse Practitioner Program.

    FHD actively promotes research excellence and is home to a Canada Research Chair in Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Management. Faculty members are engaged in programs of research in a variety of health-related areas.     The Position

    Reporting through the Master of Nursing/Nurse Practitioner Program Director, to the Dean, the Assistant/Associate Professor has three key areas of responsibility. They include:

    Teaching and Learning: The faculty member will be responsible for developing, teaching and evaluating graduate level courses in the MC Program.

    Research and Scholarship: Developing and growing a sustained program of research in a key strategic area. This includes, but is not limited to attaining research funding, disseminating widely via traditional and innovative means, and involving partners and stakeholders as needed.

    Service to the Community: Participation in the life of Athabasca University and the community of which it is a part.

    The Candidate

    The ideal candidate must hold a Doctorate in nursing, and be eligible for registration as a licensed Nurse Practitioner in Alberta, and have three to five years of relevant academic and/or discipline-related experience, leadership experience in overseeing graduate Nurse Practitioner course coordination, be strongly committed to growing their skills, learning, and contributing across research and scholarship, teaching, and service. Active registration in Alberta as a licensed Nurse Practitioner must be instated no later than the employment start date and must be actively maintained as an ongoing condition of employment. They are innovative and reflective educators, may have some experience in the online learning environment, and have demonstrable potential to develop a strategic, credible, and agile research program. Demonstrated experience or potential to lead and work respectfully and effectively as part of larger teams is essential. Openness and dedication to developing their skills and potential beyond areas of past or ongoing strength or success will be expected and fostered.

The candidate will understand their personal strengths and when experiencing personal challenges, failures, and reflection will lean into these areas for further learning and growth.
