We work with a diverse group of clients in the commercial, residential, healthcare, education, civic, aviation, transit and transportation, ports / marine, and community development sectors.

Our work ranges in scale from highly detailed renovations and additions to some of the largest and most complex infrastructure and building projects in BC.

Sustainability is a strong aspect of all our work, including sustainability planning, building performance simulation, and performance engineering, utilizing various standards including Envision, LEED, Passive House, Net Zero, WELL etc.)




Your Opportunity


This position requires someone who has strong business development instincts, written communication skills with a knack for creativity, enjoys connecting and collaborating with others, and willing to take on challenges.

We are looking for an emerging content strategist / writer and business developer with a keen interest to learn and understand the world of architecture and engineering, and how they work together to realize buildings and infrastructure.


You have the ability to craft clear and compelling messages for request for proposals (RFPs), and external and internal communication pieces.

You also have an active interest in the individuals and stakeholder groups that make up a community and are up for engaging with them to understand a client and a project to support your communication strategy and messaging.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic, creative written content for our proposal responses to RFPs
  • Support business development leads in the development of material for RFP responses, written communications that requires strategy and thought, business planning, and account management
  • Support all business development functions for key account managers and BD leads for the Buildings' sectors
  • Support the Project Communications Lead to develop graphic and written content for proposals, project reports, design guidelines, etc.
  • Facilitate and develop writing for blogs and external collateral
  • Assist with opportunity tracking and updates in our proprietary Pipeline tracking system.
  • Support annual Business Planning by conducting research on clients, understanding trends in the market, and competitors
  • Assist with Business Development analytics.
  • Work closely with and report to a Project Communications Lead
  • Maintain utilization of 25%.

Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • An ability to strategically compose and write a compelling narrative as part of an overall proposal response to an RFP.
  • Have drive and initiative to learn about the technicalities and nuances of the architecture, engineering and construction operations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and assignments in an organized manner.
  • Resourceful and takes initiative
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to successfully work both collaboratively and independently.
  • Prior experience working in consulting engineering / architecture is preferred
  • Experience with MS Office including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access.
  • Strong graphic design (InDesign) skills.
Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Communications, Marketing or equivalent with minimum of 24 years of experience.
  • Prior experience working in consulting engineering / architecture is preferred

Typical in-office working environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for periods of time with standard ergonomic sit-stand desks. Field work may occasionally include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Stantec offers a hybrid working environment (balanced between in-office and remote/home working), as needed.
