This vacancy is for a Communications Coordinator who will be part of a team supporting the parts of our organization that work closely with businesses in Ontario.

You will work with your Communications Division colleagues to support internal business partners by executing communications strategies to help achieve business objectives, solve problems, respond to issues and promote the image and credibility of the WSIB.

This will include managing tactics across multiple and concurrent projects.

You will draft and edit materials for internal and external audiences so that they are easy to understand and consistent with our brand voice and design.


Major Responsibilities:


  • Manage executive correspondence and process on behalf of the President and Chair's offices
  • Provide advice to senior management on appropriate responses to inquiries from labour and employer stakeholders, and government officials, that include politically sensitive issues, and developing WSIB policies
  • Provide written responses to executive correspondence that reflect superior judgment and knowledge of WSIB's corporate issues, procedures, issues, and labour relations sensitivities
  • Prepare briefing material, template letters, presentations and reports for executive decision making
  • Issues Management and Legislative Affairs
  • Monitor government policies and programs for WSIB implications
  • Monitor and advise on legislative proceedings (question period, petitions, statements) to inform execution of issues management and communications strategies and executive level decision making
  • Prepare responses to information requests originating from media coverage, Question Period, petitions, statements in the Legislature, other levels of government, stakeholders, reports, studies
  • Communications Support
  • Monitor and provide daily reports to senior management on WSIB and labour related media coverage
  • Exercise judgment in analyzing media coverage to determine appropriate WSIB response
  • Support the implementation of communications products to meet reputation management strategies and objectives

Job Requirements:


Education (Level and Specialty / Discipline):

  • Recognized degree or diploma in public relations, communications, political science, journalism, or similar field
Experience (Years of Related Experience and Type of Experience):

  • 3-5 years experience in public relations, communications, government relations, issues management, government

Proven experience in:

  • Project planning to manage multiple and concurrent projects varying in scope and complexity.
