Central City Brewers and Distillers is a craft brewery in the business of developing and selling international award-winning premium craft beer and high-quality distilled spirits brewed without compromise. Based in Surrey, British Columbia, CCBD was voted Canada Best Brewery of the Year in 2010 and 2012. Its Red Racer brand has become a cult icon among craft beer enthusiasts throughout North America. Founded in 2003 as a brewpub and liquor store in downtown Surrey, CCBD celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2013 with the grand opening of a brand new, 68,000 sq. ft. brewery and distillery on Bridgeview Drive. In 2019 we opened a 40,000 sq. ft. storage facility with approximately 2000 barrels of whiskey ageing in this facility. We are proud of being a local-Canadian Brewery that is currently expanding.


JOB SUMMARY


The
Assistant Controller reports to the Controller and is responsible for helping in managing a team of finance professionals in the accounting operations of the company to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.


  • Assists Controller to manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition
  • Partnering with the brewery operations to drive efficiency and identify cost saving opportunities
  • Assists in preparing and publish timely monthly financial statements
  • Assists FP&A in preparing budgets and forecasts
  • Oversees the preparation of regulatory reporting
  • Prepares monthend and yearend close working papers and improve process
  • Ensures quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Assists in the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
  • Manage and comply with provincial, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings (i.e. GST, PST, WorkSafe BC, Excise Tax returns, etc.)
  • Develop and issue Operational Dashboards and KPI's and assist operations in identifying areas of improvement.
  • Additional duties assigned by Controller as necessary

Requirements:


  • 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
  • Operational and Manufacturing background is required
  • CPA or final stages of the CPA program is a must
  • Cost accounting experience required
  • A strong business and financial background, and the ability to make sound decisions in the field
  • Proven record in the areas of driving efficiency, cost saving initiatives, and system improvements
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Experience with general ledger functions, complicated reconciliations, and the monthend/year end close process
  • Experience with bank reporting and debt covenant calculations
  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills; Experience with SAP an asset or other ERP Systems (Syspro; Dynamics)
  • Excellent business communication skills; Must be able to communicate financial information into sound business language so people of all levels can understand
  • Ability to deliver quality work on tight deadlines, with strong organization and priority setting skills
  • Advanced computer skills, specifically in Excel. Programming and/or VBA skill an asset
