Sirius Controls is a progressive and rapidly growing company that is well positioned in the manufacturing industry. We are looking to add a self-motivated and capable member to join our Production team.

We have an immediate full-time opening for an Soldering Technician in our Edmonton facility.


Job Summary

DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES include, but not limited to:

  • Manual assembly of electronic and mechanical devices according to assembly instructions, customer specifications and quality standards.
  • Hand soldering of various electronic devices (surface mount and through hole) following the J-STD001 and IPC-A610 standards
  • Inspection of final assembly of PCB boards and inprocess inspection of partially assembled boards
  • Perform touch up work on assembled PCB after wave soldering
  • Hand soldering of parts as required
  • Solder components on the board
  • Perform hardware rework on printed circuit boards and assemblies using a variety of documents including bill of material, engineering drawings, schematics, rework instructions etc.
  • Perform micro circuits assemblies requiring fine hand assembly, manually aligns parts, using IPC soldering standards
  • Verify correct part placement, perform microscope inspection
  • Document in detail the repair work done and components used in repair record
  • Repair and overhaul older devices and replace defective components
  • Component preparation (forming), placement or installation
  • Visual inspection of assemblies per the IPC-A610 standard and customer specific standards
  • Product and materials packing for shipment
  • Inventory management
  • Picking and putting away required parts
  • Performing inventory counts
  • Participate in team level quality improvement initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • 1 to 2 years of electronic hand soldering and/or rework experience
  • Previous certification in IPC-A610, IPC 7711/7721 or J-STD001 is preferred
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Good communication skills in English written and oral
  • Experience with Internet Explorer and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
  • High school or equivalent experience preferred
