    Description
    Cogir Senior Living manages retirement residences across the country. We offer a range of senior living options including independent living, assisted living and memory care.

    We manage 6 million square feet of commercial real estate and 65,000 housing units including more than 220 private residences for seniors.

    The Cogir Foundation supports projects and causes grouped under four main axes, namely young people, seniors, cultural diversity and the environment.

    Cogir is seeking for a legal counsel with a minimum of 3 years of experience to complete its legal team, composed of 6 other professionals and support staff.

    Reporting to the Vice-President, Legal Affairs, the Legal Counsel will be called upon to provide legal support and advice to the business units in their day to day operations, namely in the sectors of real estate law, commercial and transactional matters, supply contracts, regulatory matters, especially in relation residences for seniors, with or without care, commercial and residential leasing, construction law.

    Provide timely legal advice and support to business units;
    Review and negotiate agreements for acceptability and compliance with company standards, policies and procedures;
    Manage and create precedents and standard form site-level agreements;
    Conduct and oversee the handling of commercial dispute;
    Assessing, evaluating and reporting on the risks associated with agreements and transactions.
    Capacity to thrive under pressure and adapt to shifting priorities seamlessly
    A minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in a law firm or in-house counsel position and be a member in good standing of the Ontario Bar (in combination to another provincial bar is an asset)
    Bilingual (English/French) is an asset
