Summary

The District Principal of Abbotsford Virtual School is responsible for the development and implementation of online and blended learning options for the Abbotsford School District and as a regional Distributed Learning School.

The position requires oversight and development of strategic initiatives, the digital platform and the models of delivery and support for online and blended learning.

As part of the role, the District Principal will provide direct supervision of 24 staff and the educational programs at the Abbotsford Virtual School.

Job Qualifications
Masters Degree in Curriculum, Leadership or Educational Technology;
Minimum of 2 years of experience in administration
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Visionary educational leader focused on innovation and future forward thinking about education;
Understand how technology implementation can foster engagement of deep learning with adults and students;
Demonstrated understanding of program implementation within a culture of system change;
Understand, support and have demonstrated leadership implementing the BC Education Plan specifically the fifth key element, "Learning empowered by technology";
Have familiarity with the legislative requirements of and District policies related to distributed learning;
Support an active and healthy school climate with a wide range of student learning opportunities in the classroom, alternative learning environments and beyond;
Have strong familiarity with learning management systems and online learning classroom software;
Have highly effective and respectful interpersonal and communication skills;
Understand and be able to effectively develop a collegial learning environment and a

- collaborative workplace;

Have strong communication, conflict resolution and consensusbuilding skills;
Have demonstrated effective organizational and management skills;
Have experience building partnerships with leaders in neighborhood schools and in other school districts.
